Kester 24-6337-8800 50 Activated Rosin Cored Wire Solder Roll, 245 No-Clean, 63/37 Alloy, 0.031 Diameter

This solder Kester 24-6337-8800 is supposed to be some of the best out there. Ive been trying to use it off and on now for 3 weeks and still cant get it to flow well. I dont know if its the no-clean flux... or if that flux is only 1%, but seemingly no matter what temp I set it at, it doesnt want to play nice. It is shiny and clean looking when it is finished, but it just takes a lot of effort to get there. Im sure there is a trick to getting it to work quick and easy, I just havent found it yet. Perhaps when I do Ill adjust this review and toss another star on so that I can let yall know how I fixed what I was doing wrong with it. Till then, Im using KESTER SOLDER 24-6040-0027 which Ive found works beautifully and doesnt take much clean up with the flux.

I love this solder. I researched for a long time to decide what type I needed after I ran out of my chinesium stuff from 5+ years ago. I primarily use this for building drones as well as other DIY electronics projects. Best solder out there and I know this will last me awhile.

Ive been buying solder from Home Depot for years. Always worked great, never had a problem. Then, it started not to work as it should. No matter how much I cleaned the tips. I couldnt tin them. It just bubbled on the tip and didnt coat. Even on new tips. Did the same to the wires. Looked for months for a better solder. Found kester among others. Felted out of the group I was looking at that kester would be the one. Order this bundle and was surprise that it was a pound and the price was cheap compare to the amount I was getting from Home Depot. Its also thinner as well. Like the solder that came with the solder gun. Took my solder and gun. Heat the gun up and try to tin it. And it took! Next, took wires and tested it. Went on good and clean and it holds excellent. Havent had a problem with a solder joint yet. I dont expect to. I dont think it take a lot of heat to melt it. I keep my gun on a low range, but I believe even set there it is a bit too hot. Need to take a temp reading of it to find out. You really dont have to clean the solder after and no need of using Flux (unless you want too). If youre looking for a replacement. I recommend trying this one!

Awesome product. I have worked with Kester my entire professional life as electromechanical engineer 35+ years and this company never lets me down. This is a new item I used and I love it the flow rate is so quick the components being soldered do not even have a chance to get to warm to handle at least for me. The joints look better than mechanical hot flow machines that mass produce pcbs and other items. Always a shiny well even flow no gaps the pads on the boards do not get hot to remove the glue so they stay in place. I soldered some really grody nasty joints on things today and the core worked great cleaning the area so solder flowed evenly and smoothly. Once again KESTER ou knocked it out of the park I will always buy this product and the company that I purchased it from well I had it the next day I think maybe day after I ordered it but that was awesomely quick KUDOS to you. You have my business from now on. I made on a personal level some SMD RGB 5050, 0603, 2835 LEDS to hook up wire 30 Gauge and this solder was the bomb the leds did not even get to warm to touch I took it out of the clip soon as I soldered the common wire flow rate is awesome on new products not to bad on rework either. Easy to work with. Flows beautifully!

Seems like this is the go-to solder for general wiring use. (Specific application was wiring up a car stereo.) Worked great, no complaints.
