Kester 24-6337-8800 50 Activated Rosin Cored Wire Solder Roll, 245 No-Clean, 63/37 Alloy, 0.031 Diameter

I had never used 63/37 solder before. I always bought normal brand 60/40 rolls. This solder takes me to a whole new level. It melts at a lower temperature. It is very thin and thus more suited to the precise joining jobs that new electronics require. I had to practice before I could reliably control this thin stuff, but my effort was rewarded. It is more expensive than the normal solder, but worth it to me.

This is the good stuff. Its more expensive than most solders, but the results are well worth it. I love the even melt of the lead and tin in this solder and the rosin is just enough to easily wet the joint being welded. It melts at a reasonable temperature for hand soldering and wicks easily into plated through-holes providing a strong, reliable weld with ultra-low resistance. Wish it came in a thinner wire, but Kester is much higher quality than other solders I have used that were thinner.

I dont like having dirty PCBs - I started out using Kester 44 which is super easy to use, fantastic solder. But it also leaves behind hard, yellow flux that is difficult to clean. This stuff though, is the opposite. It definitely requires getting used to, if you arent already used to such low-flex solders. But the end result will look better. There IS still residue on the PCB, but it is clear if you leave it on there, and very easy to clean with alcohol or contact cleaner

Very good solder. More involved process to remove solder from iron with brass shaving method. Much better than China brands without a doubt. You get what you pay for with this product. I highly recommend this product.
