This is my first e-reader. Overall, good device with high quality plastic and a very nice screen. I am happy with the product. It got stuck a couple times while looking up from dictionary. So, I had to restart the device. I believe Kobo will fix it soon.

I have always been a kindle or fire person because theres nothing like the convenience of the Amazon library and ecosystem, in my opinion. But, I decided I wanted something that would be easy to download library books, and reviews say that the Kobo was a good alternative. I agree. I think I still lean toward the kindle but hear me out there are pros and cons here. And, dont get me wrong the Kobo Libra 2 is really nice. Background: I have had 3 generations of the Kindle and I have mained the gen 4 Paperwhite and I love it. I stuck a popsocket on the back and easy reading no hand fatigue sitting or laying in bed. It is quick and responsive, portable, and easy on the eyes. I was really drawn into the Oasiss shape but didnt want to pay the high price, even the refurbs where hitting bit higher than what i wanted to pay and the best alternative was the Kobo Libra 2. Out of the box it is a great experience. I love the 7in screen and how it looks and built. I can now read books from 3 different ecosystem, Amazon(with Kindle), Kobo, and library(overdirve). I love options and now I can browse all three for a book series I can download. To be honest, im not the big series books kind of person, because i cant stand that youd have to pay a premium for at least a book in a series when youve enjoyed a free or at least an inexpensive one up to now. whatever! But, my only cons about the Kobo is that it is slower, by a millisecond i think to the Kindle. Even when you hit the button to turn the page it lags. I see a quicker turn on the kindle but that could be my eyes. I also see a little bit of ghosting in the Kobo that i dont see on the kindle. And that it is. In conclusion, i like the Kobo a lot and i would still recommend the Libra 2 to anyone because it is a great devise for the price. and a great compliment to anyone willing to compliment their Amazon kindle library with others.

I have the first version of this eReader, which I love. But this new one is even better. First and foremost - - the backlight. Version one had inconsistent lighting. The left hand side of the screen was a little lighter than the rest of the screen. It wasnt a deal breaker, but it was annoying. Well thats gone now. The screen is perfectly and uniformly lit. Second, it seems like the text is even crisper than before. Maybe its the better consistency of the lighting, but this text just seems more clear. Third, they moved the power button. That makes more of a difference than I thought it would. The version one power button is a lousy button on the side that never quite felt right. And if you have a case on your reader, it made the power button almost inaccessible. With the power button on the back of the reader, its now easily reached, even with a case. Finally, the USB-C port. Nice touch. All in all, definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Oh my goodness, I absolutely love my KOBO! I took it to the beach and the pool and it worked great, even when it got rained on!! It’s so light and easy to hold too.

Enjoyable e-reader that doesnt need to be charged every day. I like the lighting options available on it. Putting books on it was pretty simple. I like the ability to zoom in on PDF versions of books that will stay there from page to page, but there doesnt seem to be an ability to retain that when you close the book and re-open it. The physical buttons to turn pages were a huge plus for me. Unfortunately there is no option I saw to turn off swiping for page turns entirely, so occasionally when I try to tap the page Im on to pull up the options, itll turn the page on me if Im not hitting the right area. Occasionally glitches, though infrequent enough that its not a deal-breaker. Overall helped me read content in a much more comfortable way than staring at a computer screen, which has helped make digital textbooks for school more tolerable. Would recommend.

I bought this device mainly for borrowing library books. Im a little disappointed. It connects to my overdrive account but appears to only allow you to use one library at a time? I have four libraries in my overdrive because they dont all have the same books. Someone here said you can log in and out putting your various library credentials in. What a pain. Also, I can access overdrive through the discover page and searching the Kobo store. But so far hitting borrow books from your library does not work for me. Smaller issues. Does not come with a user manual. It has two fairly useless papers in the box. The quick start guide says to turn on and charge. And the other paperwork is a battery warning and tells you to read the user guide, which isnt included. It is online.

A month and a half worth of battery, easy on the eyes, wonderful to hold comfortably. Easy to sideload.

In the past I have always been a hardcore nook enthusiast, I thought Id try something different with this Kobo because of the reviews. I absolutely love it, I did have to get used to the large side lip, along with it feeling larger than my nook, only because I do not or did not use the physical buttons on either of the Kobo or my old Nook. But the extra options on this Kobo are absolutely beautiful. I am addicted to the dark mode and have not gone back to the regular reading mode since I got it. I definitely suggest getting either a cover with a handle, or like I did, a handle that sticks on a piece of Velcro to attach to the back. Without a handle, youre definitely going to smack yourself in the head if you tend to read at night lying down. One bad thing I have noticed is that the battery life is not as good as on my old Nook, I do have to charge it probably twice as much.

The settings are easy to use to make reading easy in all kinds of lighting. The black letters are crisp and stand out well. Syncs and updates easily with OverDrive & Libby. Easy one-hand operation. Only con so far is when reading in the dark I set refresh screen to every 10 pages. Wish I could turn off refreshes in the dark. Otherwise better experience than the 3 year old Kindle. The slightly larger screen is nice. Had I realized the size value I would have purchased the Kobo Sage 8 inch. Even so, the Kobo 2 physical page up/down are just perfect (except for the little click with each push). Its so easy to turn a page with my thumb without moving my hand or using my other hand. I really appreciate that!
