> 3 dayThis was my first time using Portrait 400, and I really like the results. The color is beautiful and the grain is nice. It really seems to have a special “glow” about it. I love it and will be buying it again in the future.

> 3 dayKodak hit a home run with the Portra line. They adapted their movie film stock (VISION 50D, etc.) and used a similar chemistry for this enthusiast / pro film. It is by far the best colour film I have ever used. Colours are superb without being saturated. Grain is virtually absent. FWIW, Ive tried Portra 160, Portra 400, and Portra 800. ISO 160 is good for a bright summer day (and super-fine grain), but the colours are less punchy. Portra 800 is good for low-light situations but the grain is noticeable. The 400 ISO product is a good compromise.

> 3 dayI have shot about 20 rolls of this stuff, so this review has been long in the making. And my final word is: Kodak Portra 400 is a really great film. Its not too punchy, its not too muted, its very accurate reproducing colors, and has GREAT latitude. Accidentally overexposed three stops? No problem, you most likely got the shot. Set the ISO to 1600? Dont worry about it. Dont even push the film. It will be fine, with little extra grain. This stuff is EXCELLENT, and amazing for portraits! Use this film along with a low-light lens like an f/1.4, set it to f/2 or under, and underexpose a stop or two, and you will get DREAMY portraits.
