I haven’t ever had scorch marks on my counters but don’t want to take a chance with the light color. I purchased this mat and it’s perfect. I got this size as it’s slightly larger than others listed. It holds a curling iron and flat iron both comfortably. I haven’t used it for traveling so I couldn’t rate that. But it is very pliable and could roll around a hot tool very well. I’m very happy I purchased this.
