> 3 dayOur 6 year old definitely needed grown up help to build this (which is fair since its labeled 8+!) But the train itself is very cool. A pretty intricate build, and the cars have a variety of interactive features. It would be nice if the set came with more track, the included is just enough for the train to stand on but not really to play with much. The AR app experience is also pretty underwhelming and barely interacts with the built train itself. For a train Lego set, this is a good build, but I would recommend buying it if youre mainly interested in the AR app angle.

> 3 dayVery disappointed. Seriously?! Passing off a previously opened Lego set as new?! Purchased this for my sons birthday. The box had been previously opened and was taped shut. My son opened it to find bag 5 had been opened. Being an excited child with his new set, he decided to build it, only to find pieces were missing as well as one of the sticker sheets. We will be returning, and will rethink any future purchases with this seller.

> 3 dayThis combines technology with the old fashioned hands-on building experience. Scary in a fun way. Not my favorite LEGO set, but they are all good.

> 3 dayThis is a larger set so be prepared for that and starting earlier in the day so you can complete the same day you start. This is our first train set so this was a wonderful addition to our Lego collection. It has great details and love the hidden features give more interactive play. I’m not a huge fan of downloading an app and getting my kids on a device after spending time off a device to build this. But it does provide some extra enjoyment. I wouldn’t buy just fit AR piece. > 3 dayIll be honest and say that I ordered this for myself but the kids took it over and I had no chance. I never realized until I started building the larger Lego sets that I enjoy it immensely and I actually turned my spouse onto this as well. I two kids still interested in Legos as their journey has just begun at age five. The are starting K this year and dont have a great grasp on reading yet but building Legos have really helped them learn numbers. The instructions are fantastic and all you need to do follow them is look at the picture and and find how many of each piece you need for the next section. They still need some help from mom and dad but are really becoming quite proficient. This Ghost Train in pretty fun. It comes with multiple characters both scary and kind of normal. My favorite is the one that looks like Doc from Back To The Future. This takes a good chunk of time to put together, for us many days, as we let our young ones take the helm and work at their pace. This has a ton of new features that were not used to such as the cool pop out wings and the track. They kids love moving things and Im going to have to look into more track. These is definitely more intricate than our usual builds. The app it pretty easy to follow and come complete with scary music. You can choose your on ghost as well as if youd like to catch one. It was honestly a bit frustrating to me but the kids picked up on it quickly. Strange how that happens. This kept them entertained for a bit and theyve come back to it several times. They do enjoy playing with their set and come back to them almost every day. As with anything new and shiny it gets played with me most until it settles into the fray with the others. This is the only really interactive one with have though and its just in time for the month of little ghosts and goblins. Overall, a fun build (with the parents) and after using their little brains to build they can reacquaint themselves with a screen.

> 3 dayGOOD: As usual LEGOs attention to detail really shines in the train set, which comes with the main train, 2 smaller cars, a rail and a station. Dont be fooled, each piece is intricately detailed and the even the station has both a front and back that the characters can interact with. Both the train and the station have the ability to transform into haunted versions of themselves - the transformation part is actually both surprising and satisfying. BAD: LEGO is clearly looking for a unique angle with AR app but as a parent, the point of toys like LEGOs is to exercise a childs creativity and take them away from playing on phones. While older children may have their own phones, younger children may feel need to immediately fiddle with the AR app right after they build the toy, which is a shame. As for the AR app itself, it wasnt as easy as a download, point and play and I found it a bit cumbersome to use. CONCLUSION: Unfortunately, it seems like LEGO built in the price of the AR experience into the price of the set - for $80, I would generally expect to get a little more from a typical LEGO set. That said, the train is beautiful and took my 10 year old nephew about an hour to put together, offered several more hour of play (without the AR app) and was a happy with the ability to change the train back and forth. If youre looking to purchase this, dont do it for the AR app but because you love LEGOs and want an awesome train set + station.
