This works exactly like a standard outlet polarity/ground checker, with the added benefit that it provides surge protection and that it is in line with your power source. Installation of this is quite simple, just plug this into the power source you will be using for your trailer/RV, read the lights to determine if there are any issues with the electrical, then plug in your RV/trailer power electrical cord into the device of all is ok, at which point you are also getting surge protection. It comes with a lock/cable to secure the device but I frankly dont see the value in it. If someone is going to get close enough to steal this from my trailer/RV, the lock/wire will not be enough of a deterrent, in my opinion. One item that was a bit of a mystery to me is that it came with a large clear plastic bag, not entirely sure what this was for since no instructions are included beyond whats on the sticker of the plug, and box.

Inexpensive insurance— you never know what kind of power you are going to end up w/at some campgrounds. I would rather blow a $60 part then all of my control boards in my camper.

It works for our 30amp RV.

I was told by another RV person that if I put the adapter on and plug this in to 50 amp I have a fear of ruining it. I usually plug in the 30s but if the 50 opportunity was the only outlet available somewhere, I wish I had bought a 50 amp

Havent had a chance to use this yet - pretty straightforward to use the product itself (minimal instructions - plug it into the shore power, ensure the lights indicate good power, turn off the breaker, plug in the RV power, turn on the breaker - easy enough). But there are some accessories included with zero instructions. There is a large, thin gauge plastic bag - presumably to put over the post where the shore power is mounted?? Thin gauge plastic might last 1-2 storms if you really needed it. And there is a soft cloth included, too. No idea what thats for - maybe to dry off the shore power post before plugging in ?? Just guessing here. Actual instructions would be helpful - even a scrap of paper with one sentence instructions. Too much to ask??
