Greater than one weekThe information provided for the product gives the impression that all you have to do is plug in it to your computer and back-up miraculously happens. Not so. Its pretty simple, but you have to go to your control panel, find backup and restore, and order the backup to go to the unit (is was D on mine).

Greater than one weekThis is a very affordable 500 gig hard drive. It was super quiet and has a slim sleek profile. The transfer speeds keep up with my needs. Set up was simple, just plugged it into my android box and followed the on screen prompts to turn it into internal storage. Great way to to keep backup files on my home network.

> 3 dayDescription said good for pc and Mac. But doesn’t say for a Mac you need a pc to format it to use with a Mac

> 3 dayIm going to be 100% honest... I bought this to play sims on my computer since it takes up soo much space. My problem is that unless you sit this on something flat the connection will falter, and obviously someone reading this might say “of course that would happen if it’s being moved but I’m talking about laying it still on anything that’s not perfectly flat, as in even something slanted will cause this fault. The space given is correct and the speed while playing is decent if you’re looking into it for the same type of reason I am. The most important thing is that it stores which it does.

> 3 dayIve been struggling with this drive (160GB) for 3 days. First, I couldnt format it on Mac. It arrives formatted as exFAT/MBR and I wanted to change to Mac Journaled/GUID. Nope. Every erase or formatting attempt on Mac returned an error (I also tried APFS). So I decided to just use it on Windows, but that doesnt work either. Every time I start writing documents to it, I get a Fatal Device Error. Then if a few documents write successfully, the drive immediately disappears from Explorer, and I cant eject it properly because its not there. When I disconnect it and reconnect it, Windows tells me the drive needs to be repaired. I click Repair and Windows says its fine, but then we cycle through the errors again. This last time, it locked up my PC and I couldnt even Ctrl-Alt-Del out of it. Im not going to return it because I was backing up confidential work documents and at this point I cant be sure of whats on it :-(

Greater than one weekWhen I first plugged in, the drive would not show up in File Explorer. I discovered it needed a letter, path, and formatting. None of which I knew how to do but thankfully Google exists (and its actually straightforward when you find the right place but I wont lie, there was much lucky guesswork). If you are not technologically inclined this may not be for you, though customer service might help. After that, the backing up process has been smooth. If youre adding just a few files or pictures it will be done instantly. If youre backing up 9,000 photos like I am, it will take 30 mins. For the price I am pretty happy overall.
