> 3 dayI have used DD-WRT based routers in the past as a way to have a feature rich device on lower price range. Experience was not that good. Finding the right firmware / device balance was not that easy. Not a big fan of integrated Wi-Fi on the device, I understand Wi-Fi radios should burn on a different device to be replaced at different time. At some point I moved to a Cisco RV325 that started well on a clean setup but performance started to degrade after enabling some basic features. What I was looking for: - Gigabit ethernet - VPN capable device - VLAN support - Local DNS - DHCP options This is my first Mikrotik device and Im now a fan of RouterOS. The setup is more for the experienced ones but all the performance, features and the fact that you can see all in real-time is simply AMAZING. The device surpassed all of my expectations and I fell Im just scratching the surface of options that are available on the platform.

> 3 dayI migrated our system from Ubiquiti. I had an Edgerouter Lite and 2 APLite access points. I became sick of the promise of Ubiquiti equipment. What killed it in our house was WIFI calling from cell phones that kept dropping calls which I was able to trace to the Edge-router Lite. Their APLite access points were also unreliable. Adoptions half the time failed, and Ubiquiti software is poor and unreliable and for whatever reason doesnt integrate the Edgerouter Lite with the APs. IP addresses were obviously being assigned by the Edge-router, but half the time didnt show in the list. So, out went the APLites in favor of TP-Link Omada AC1750s, and this, the MikroTik RB4011 Ethernet 10-Port Gigabit Router. From a speed performance, no drop off from the Edge-router, and also runs cooler. reboot times much faster. Upgraded firmware without a hitch, and all equipment works without a hitch. Best of all, NO DROPPED WIFI CALLS from the cell phones. I dont know if there was a setting in the Edge-router that defaults to a protocol that needed to be changed and I just didnt see it, or if it is a defect in router software. Either way, it solved my problem. Of interest, I port forwarded the address for my Plex Server on the MicroTik which allows me access to my media from outside of my network. Plex shows the network as unavailable, but it all works outside my home network. Dont know what the setting on the router is that would fix that (or if it is the router at all), but it works.

> 3 dayI don’t have the knowledge to get one of these devices up and running had to return it you better have some knowledge on how to configure this thing before you purchase

> 3 dayAs always, Mikrotik outperforms its price point substantially. This is a great device for home networks. Try it. You will not be disappointed.

09-06-2025This is a superb piece of hardware at a great price. In my initial testing I was really pleased and impressed with the performance. So if youre a professional with deep understanding of how to set this up, go for it. (But read the rest of my comments here first.) If youre not a pro, or at least someone with extensive network management expertise, you might wish to consider something with an easier management interface. The basic configuration was simple enough. But I wanted to set up WAN failover. And I wanted to set up basic security stuff, including setting it to disable pings and connection attempts from the WAN side. I hadnt even gotten to the advanced capabilities. But it was frankly just a giant pain. The website guide and the forum were barely helpful, especially when professionals argued with one another about how to best do something. (Not a confidence builder.) This took hours of trial and error. And just resetting the router is a pain, you have to hold the button for 30 seconds, after which it might or might not reset. Finally, I thought I had it all done right, and was happily running tests. And then I found out that I had somehow managed to disable the ability of my wifi access points to connect to the network. At this point I decided to accept defeat, rather than spend another day trying to figure it all out. I sent it back, thank goodness for Amazons excellent return policy. I wish Mikrotik would invest in a really nice GUI, and a small set of config wizards: yes, that would add cost, because good software costs money. But I think it would greatly increase the appeal of their products. Even pros like ease of use, because it saves time and hassle and reduces chances of error.

> 3 dayThis device is amazing! After switching to MikroTik products I’m not going back to baseline SOHO brands. The RouterBoard OS does have a learning curve, but the MikroTik Wiki and forums and incredibly helpful and folks are responsive.

> 3 dayThe RB4011 being one of the first hardware devices I have had from MikroTik has been great. Setup with the Webgui was pretty easy to follow. Shipped it to my colo rack miles away from me and had a issue with not being able to remote access via Wan port but with the techs connecting a console cable it was easy to fix. Is currently holding a full IPv4 and IPv6 bgp session with no issues. The SFP+ cage work good with my 10Gbps copper SFP+.

> 3 dayWhile this is a great 10 port router with tons of processing power. Firmware updates have caused Problems with the SFP+ port. Some users of the wireless version report that 5G radio shuts off entirely. So if you dont need/use either of those features.... its an EXTREMELY powerful router. But remember... its still RouterOS on a Mikrotik... so to really take advantage of it... you need specialized knowledge.
