When received, put one in right away, and it leaked, so as long as I had ordered 2, I put the other one in, and it also leaked. Previous Moen Cartriges had Moen stamped on the cartiege, and these 2 did not. After talking to seller, He told me to send back, and I would get credit. so I did. He gave me credit for only one, saying I sent the old on to him. They were only in for 2 minuets if that, so dont know why he said that. The one that I had taken out was from ACE Hdwre. He refused credit on his faulty product Sorry

The item fit and was the same size. The item was not the same as original equipment. It had much less rubber and designed differently. Poorly made. The handle was loose and felt cheap and moved all over loosely after the install. I double checked the model of the faucet and replacement part numbers. It still leaked just in a different position than before. Since it had been installed I did not return. Just wasted $25.00. I pitched it. Bought a new faucet. I do not recommend buying this part.

The all-brass Moen 1200 is the way to go. Avoid the plastic 1225 or allegedly compatible replacmets. The genuine Moen product is fairly well made, but it seems not quite the quality now as years past, but this is still your best bet for a replacement part. You’ll be surprised at how much more smoothly your fixture operates after you replace the cartridge. Probably the most difficult part of the project is getting the old cartridge out. Read the directions which come with the cartridge before you start working, you’ll thank yourself, trust me. Remove the retainer clip first! The replacement cartridge comes with a plastic nut which fits over top of the stem and between the ears of the old cartridge. Turn the nut 1/4 turn each way to loosen the old cartridge. You can then usually pull the old cartridge out by pulling on the stem with pliers. If the guts of the cartridge pull out leaving the body stuck in the fixture you can still get it out. Run a 1/2 inch thread tap in the body of the stuck cartridge; it is perfect fit. Place an 11/16ths inch socket over the stuck cartridge with the open end of the socket facing the fixture. Screw and slowly tighten a matching 1/2 inch bolt through the square hole in the socket into the cartridge. The stuck cartridge should pull out of the fixture into the socket pretty easily. I’ve had to use this trick several times to get really stuck cartridges out. Use dielectric grease liberally on the body and O-rings when you put the new cartridge in to hopefully prevent future sticking. Don’t forget to reinstall the retainer clip.

I ordered one of these on November 1st, 2012 to replace a plastic stem in our Moen bathroom sink faucet which kept requiring an o-ring replacement or lubrication. I thought maybe being a Genuine Moen part, and of brass construction the sealing valve surfaces for the moving O-rings would be of higher quality and not need such frequent attention. This sink gets a lot of warm water usage, dozens of cycles on this valve every day. As of February 17, 2013 this stem is already worn out, and presents extreme resistance to pulling the faucet handle. I removed it and carefully pulled the inner stem out and cleaned and lubricated it with FDA approved silicone grease, and re-assembled it. It doesnt leak, but it is still hard to pull and actually squeaks when pushed closed. The sealing o-rings look like new, but since half the O-ring seals in this model are mounted inside the barrel into grooves, instead of having all of them mounted in grooves on the removable stem (stupid design!!) it would be very difficult to try to remove the hidden o-rings and get a new set installed without scratching the brass in the process, which could lead to premature damage of any newly installed o-rings. So I am replacing this piece of junk and going back to the cheap plastic style of stem. At least those CAN be serviced, after which they work very well for several months, until their o-rings wear out and need to be replaced and re-greased. Of course, if Moen could simply make a faucet that did not NEED all this attention, I would not be in this predicament. But at least this lasts longer than the lousy single handle Delta model it replaced.

My Moen 1200 shower control valve started leaking after twenty-one years in use. After trying to locate a replacement cartridge locally failed I found the original item on Amazon and purchased it. The item arrived in good condition and on time. I replaced the old cartridge with the new one without problems and it works like a charm. I am thankful that I was able to source the part through Amazon since the alternative was to change out the entire shower valve at great cost and inconvenience. The project was a DIY. The only reason that I did not give a rating of five stars is because the replacement cartridge did not include the retainer clip. Fortunately for me the old retainer clip was not damaged when I removed the worn out cartridge.
