Caveat Emptor.... This is going to be a great solution for 98% of backpackers out there, however, its not something that fits into my system of ultra light backpacking and may not for you as well... For what this is its just too heavy (almost 5oz or 136 grams on my scale- quite a bit more than advertised on Amazon). For another 3.0 ounces I can carry a pop-up lantern that is much brighter than this thing and I can still use my headlamp to do other chores/activities around camp. Its just not worth the weight for me and if I want to carry the extra weight I will go with the superior piece of gear. Some positive are the way this thing difuses light and maybe tha tit works as a protective case for your headlamp in your pack. However, if youre worried about accidentally turning the lamp on while in your pack there are far lighter (and cheap solutions) to that problem. I would classify this as a luxury item and not something I would be carrying on a hunting, thru-hike, or when I am looking to bang out a ton of miles. Ill take the extra ounces in tape or snacks before I would carry this around. I am not going to return as I may have some uses or as a piece of ancillary gear but I am am disappointed in just how heavy it is. Good idea but I think its just a bit too heavy for ultra light backbackers.

Light weight but made of heavy material, seems durable. Really handy to have around in case of power outage or for camping.

Great little device and perfect for lighting up a small area. We have all been there and just hung our headlamp from a hook to act as a makeshift lantern, and I will continue to do so if I have to put it back on right away. But with this, if I just need to use it as a lantern, it works great. The lens is frosted, sending light in a broader range vs. being direct from the headlamp. Its easy to store the headlamp in, and I was skeptical about the button to turn it on, but it worked great. Its also a great way to store your headlamp when packing it away or in your gear. It also works with some off-brand headlamps.

Love how well it works with the Petzl headlamp and how the power switch can be easily depressed even once in the case. Love the cord and how it wraps up out of the way, and also the clip and zipper

The only reason I bought this was Petzl does not list any other headlamp cases for that new lamp. I also own the PETZL ACTIK Headlamp Case. The PETZL REACTIK+ fit in that case too. I actually switched the two. The PETZL REACTIK+ now lives in the ACTIK case, plus three AAA batteries. The PETZL ACTIK lives in this case now. The ACTIK lamps on / off button fits in the window for this NOCTILIGHT case perfectly. Better than the REACTIK+ headlamp actually. Sizes line up perfectly. Im not a real fan of this case as it feels flimsier than the ACTIK case, but it probably will help prevent damage when dropped or in my backpack. I use Black Diamond Apollo for my hammock and tent, so I doubt Ill ever use this case for a hanging light, but Ive decided to keep it. If I didnt have the two lamps and cases, Id return this and get the ACTIK case instead. Hope that helps.

Arrived on time in good condition. My Petzl headlamp fits inside, and I can switch the headlamp off and on from outside the lantern case no problem. When I go camping in a few weeks, well see how well it works as a lantern !

This is my second Noctilight. Replaced my small lantern with this for camping/hiking. Awesome lighting option if you are trying to save weight but you still want lantern level performance.

Good concept for combining Petzl headlamp and protective case. Similar lamps may fit. Button alignment isnt perfect, even when using the recommended headlamp. It feels like you have to press fairly hard and at a certain angle. Inserting headlamp has to be specific, too. Folding the band a certain way otherwise it wont fit. Still a great concept, though.

This is a very cool idea. Thought it might be a gimmick when I first saw it. But I was wrong. This is not some ultra light hiker accessory, but its much lighter than the small lanterns I usually throw in my pack.
