Greater than one weekFirstly, go and do research on the difference between wifi, Bluetooth and zigbee. You will find that zigbee was made for light, low energy, long range, low data, natural mesh network. Ie the more you have the better the results, the opposite of wifi and Bluetooth. So, on paper, it’s the ideal solution. Secondly, I had tried wemo and amazon and cheap Chinese wifi smart plugs, and poured a lot of money into unreliable stuff. Including Amazon’s wifi smart plug, it is super unreliable and slow. Because I was short on time, didn’t do my research, and hue did not have a smart plug. I upgraded my router to the ASUS axe16000 and the smart plugs became super unreliable. I thought I was screwed. I had time, finally, to sit and read. And I understood zigbee, I saw hue already had smart plugs out now, and I already had the new hue bridge. So I bought four of these, because I had spent way more of the other stuff. And, right from go, super easy to install (just take your time, uninstall/rename previous plugs, rename these), and they respond super quick over Alexa, and every single time, all four, every morning and every night for a week. Wow. Not just that, but another hue strip light that used to be a bit unreliable is super stable and responsive now because of zigbee, I have two new plugs near it. They make a nice soft click, it sounds lush. Nice. I’ve had them a week and if things change I’ll update here for sure. Thirdly, if you are sitting there thinking “oh no I don’t want to spend $50 on a hue hub”, well, you’re going to spend a whole lot more on wifi smart plugs that will drive you nuts. Fourthly, I’m no longer paranoid about changing my router because … zigbee controls my lights.

> 3 dayIf you want to change up the lighting in your home, consider the Philips Hue lighting system. We moved into a new home and replaced most of our bulbs with Hue bulbs. This was not inexpensive unless you compare it to a home automation system such as Savant. You can control all of the Hue bulbs from your smartphone if you link it to your wifi network. This switch makes it easy to allow anyone in the home to turn on and off the bulbs and use some of the more basic functions - you get to control how you want to operate it, and it is extremely easy to configure with a great user interface.

> 3 dayAlmost all the lights in my house are Hue, and are managed by Alexa, turn on... Or ...turn off... Rooms are living room, kitchen, guest room. I have a couple of visitors who cannot turn on or turn off anything. Even when I set up routines like Alexa, good morning. Ive had wifi switches that worked nicely, but when I went to get more, they were no longer made. So when Philips Hue came out with this switch, with the top button a simple on-off, and a pair of buttons for brighter or dimmer, I got a couple. Easy to set up, easy to stick to the wall, and does exactly what I want. Stuck next to the regular light switch, with A SIGN saying Push Top Button For Lights On/Off. So I got several more. Now I dont have to turn regular light switches back on after guests leave. The hardest part was figuring out what scenes to program into the bottom button when there are five options and one room only has three scenes. Yeah, the whole setup was easy.

> 3 dayIf you want simple, quick set-up of this remote, disregard the enclosed instruction sheet which tells you that the set-up button is inside the battery cover, along with a QR code for you to scan. All I did was open the Hue app on my iPhone and go to settings. Select Accessories, then the + sign at the top-right, and finally select the Dimmer switch. Then simply follow the steps. I had this up and running in less than 3 minutes. No need to open the battery cover, or press the set-up button on the remote. This device also get registered in your Alexa app. Seems you can add a routine to the device which I havent figured out the purpose... Anyway, this is really a quick, inexpensive method to have a physical device to control your lights.

> 3 dayThe plug works great with the hue system. Fast responding. Clean, well made design. For those who say that it does not have a dimmer Im actually very happy it does not. You can use it for other devices than just lights! I know it is part of Philips Hue lighting product. I think it would be a mistake not to understand outlets arent just for lights and that Philips Hue system should be aware of the full home ecosystem. It is a well made product. A little on the large side though designed to not block the second outlet. The main down side is its price. It is a bit expensive to justify purchase in quantities. All Hue lights are a tad too expensive I find...

> 3 dayIve owned Hue products for about 10 years now, I think. Always innovative, but often expensive. I owned several of the old version of these switches and needed another one so I decided to go with the V2 one. I like it. Unlike the old one, where I would have to instruct guests to press the power button repeatedly to change scenes/brightness levels, now I can tell them the power button turns it on or off and the Hue button on the bottom changes scenes. It makes a little more sense to people, I think. You can, of course, customize the power and Hue buttons. I love that the Hue button can be pressed up to five times for different scenes. The separate brightness buttons are good, too. I like the V2 switch more than the V1 one for sure.

Greater than one weekPerfect for bathroom lights where I just want to use a switch vs app or voice. Programmed it to warm bright light for default, then energizing, dim, and a custom spa setting. Love it! Easy to use.

Greater than one weekI’m the biggest fan of Hue in my family. I don’t mind pulling out my phone or using Alexa to adjust the lights in one of our rooms…the rest of my family on the other hand could care less. These dimmer switches are brilliant because if someone else in the household turns the hardwired switch off manually the whole system goes down. Now, anyone in the house can power the whole room on/off, dim the lights, and cycle through different schemes without needing the app. Docking 1-star because the mounting faceplate is a non-standard size. It’s about a 1/4” bigger than my standard plates…looks slightly off, wish they could’ve matched standard sizes. Not sure about the long term 3M adhesive holding up, but it sure was simple to place on the wall. Looks like there are mounting holes if you really want to do it right. Curious how long the battery will end up lasting, but the process of setting up and assigning to a room was super simple in the Hue app. Must have for Hue owners in a multi-person household.
