There should be a way to change the default color to the one you want! Otherwise, things work well.

These work quite well; the white color temperature change feature is excellent. My only complaint is that the both product title and packaging prominently state that they are dimmable LED bulbs, but its only in the fine print on the box that it mentions that they are only dimmable using a compatible Philips dimmer. A standard in-wall dimmer switch or a smart dimmer like the Lutron Casétas will not work with these.

These lights are bright enough for your room. This is the second set of Hue lights Ive bought. The first set worked flawlessly with the Amazon Alexa Dot (Gen 3). Unfortunately this set doesnt. The only difference is the White Ambiance does not have bluetooth, so it requires the Hue Bridge. So these bulbs are just normal bulbs until I get the Hue Bridge.

I bought one set 6 months ago and have been replacing almost every bulb in the house with them ever since. What none of these reviews seem to tell you is that you can control these bulbs without any bridge, you just have to have at least one Philips Hue Smart Dimmer Switch. The product description and instructions that come with these bulbs and/or the Dimmer Switch say that you have to have a bridge or Alexa, you do not. I have one remote per room. One remote will control multiple bulbs. There are Youtube videos with instructions on how to connect without a bridge, it is an extremely simple process - but even they do not say that while the bulb is turned on you can tap the on/power button again to change the color temp to one of the four in the product description. I found out by accident. I can only speak to specific bulb (White Ambiance). The four color temperatures are the third picture down on the manufacturers item page. You get everything from daylight to candlelight. I prefer the soft glow of the Relaxation temperature.

If you notice a common thread among Hue reviews, its that people are amazed about how they work so well despite being so far from the hub. Theres a simple explanation for this, its because Hue uses a protocol called Zigbee to connect. Zigbee devices all talk to one another, rather than just to a single access point like WiFi connected bulbs do. As a result, as long as any bulb or switch can trace a signal via other bulbs all the way back to the hub, they will work. They even have redundancies so if you turn on a device that interferes with the signal (like a microwave), they will try to negotiate a new path through via a different bulb. This makes for a much longer ranged and reliable setup, that gets better and better the more bulbs you add to your home. There are other bulbs that use Zigbee as well, and as long as the hub supports them, they will work as repeaters as well - you will want to do some searching before you buy to make sure that any given brand will work this way. That doesnt mean Hue bulbs are without issues, though. The biggest one is that they tend to not be as bright as some of their competition, especially in some color profiles. In yellow mode, they are noticeably dimmer than than, say, the Sylvania competitors. In my opinion, though, the convenience of the most widely available software platform makes up for this shortcoming.

I never actually change my light color, but whatever. I know I can, and I can tell Alexa to turn them on for me, and that makes me feel fancy.

The description is a bit misleading. From my understanding it said it was compatible wit jb amazon alexa, but I come to find out the echo plus is the only one you can use without a bridge. I have the echo dot and it is not compatible. Unfortunately, if I want to control my lights Ill have to buy a hub for 52 dollars. I recommend you dig deeper into the comments and description so you can avoid the disappointment.
