> 24 hourThese lightbulbs work but the range from the hub is not very good. For instance, I wanted my garage lights to be automatic but they’re more than 50 feet from my router and through walls (obviously) so it doesn’t reach. You can install another bulb as a “repeater” to help extend the range but that didn’t work well for me.

> 24 hourPhilips has been nagging me for a while to upgrade the app on my phone, and -- while youre at it -- get our new super duper hub, it is square. Well, with Samsung jacking everyone over on SmartThings, I figured I would go on and upgrade the Hue too. First, install the new hub. It is square. That is a big deal for some reason. The new hub is super-light, small piece of plastic. It will not stay put. The ethernet cable moves it. And, speaking of the ethernet cable, I was hoping I could remove the old hub and set the new hub in the same place. But NO!. Philips decided to 1) change the power connecter, and 2) rotate the ethernet connection, so I had to pull out the furniture, get behind where the old hub was, install the now power adapter, and twist the ethernet cable over. That was a chore. That cable had a little bit of tension in it, and the no-weight plastic hub promptly flipped over, putting the cable back to the position it was in with the old hub. Disconnect it, loosen up the cable, try again. OK, all that is working. Blue lights all on. To my great dismay, after installing the new app and the new hub, NO LIGHTS FOUND. Yep, first I thought I must have done something wrong (possible, even though Ive installed this and similar systems, but you never know). After checking and rechecking, I installed one of the new bulbs that came with the hub. Presto, 1 bulb in my house found and working. What about the rest? More checking. I power on every light in the house. Still no devices found. I try changing ZigBee channels. No go. Checking the Internet, Google the Oracle, and I found the Great Disappointment. The new hub does not talk easily to the old lights. Philips suggests going to each and every single light to find its serial number and typing in each of those serial numbers to help the poor new super-duper square hub find the legacy hue lights. What a waste of time and horrible design. If you are not totally invested in Hue, go to Panasonic. No hub required. Save yourself the headache and the failed designs of Philips. PHILIPS: you really screwed the pooch on this upgrade you forced out on everyone. Your inattention to design details is deplorable. Your near-complete lack of support for legacy bulbs is unacceptable. You could have done so much better.

> 24 hourI had owned a generic brand Smart light system because I did not want to pay the Phillips Hue price tag. Honestly, that was such a mistake and waste of money. I saw the Phillip Hues for a deal so i decided to see what the hype was about. Whelp, I can totally see why they are the best in the business for these lights. First off, biggest notice, the installation. Super easy!!!! The central port system ease the whole set up. My prior generic brand one was such a pain! The Phillip app is incredibly easy to use. Tons of great setting options including setting your own. Works with Alexa and Apple Home with no issues. If you need a Smart light system, take it from me and go with Phillip Hue. It might be 5x the price, but it is so worth it!

> 24 hourBig fan of the deal you get here, the lights’ response is great, every other deal With a bridge cost so much extra for additional lights. The fact I got three lights with the bridge makes its feel like a Steal

> 24 hourLights work great. I love that they reset to full brightness if they’re physically powered down then back on (can be disabled via the app). The integration with Apple home, google, and Alexa works great (all three are connected to my bridge). The price is where I need to deduct stars. Phillips is charging an absurd amount for these devices. Given the low cost of an LED light, 2.4GHz chip, and Bluetooth chip, these should be half of the price. I decided to go with the hue because other smart home devices I’ve tested all tunnel data to China, which is very concerning.

> 24 hourI love the lights. I love the functionality and flexibility. Unfortunately one light of the 3 went bad after a little over a month and it was past the 30 days to return it.
