20-11-2024HDR is a marmite technique- I love it, some dont, but I gave it a go with Photomatix and it has actually defined my photography career since then. ive had a couple of exhibitions and sold many canvases and calendars- all of which are HDR photography. I really love the niche style and this software was an excellent way to create the images. Once merged and tweaked in photomatix I then push to Lightroom for additional work (removing blemishes etc). Would definitely recommend this software if youre interested in HDR.

23-11-2024Just a casual photographer..current camera a Sony DSC-HX100V (Amazon purchase) but have a Flicker account where I share my pictures with family and friends and yes strangers. Have a You Tube buddy who lives in the UK and his daughter every so often will email me pictures of horses her parents breed and of buildings in London as she is an architectural major in University there and some where tweaked using Photomatix...WOW..but then she is really good so downloaded the trial version and was really impressed. Then checked on the Internet and Flicker for further examples of the programs capabilities and that did it for me..had to have it. Do not like downloading programs and then getting an email with a key to open it so ordered the CD based package from Amazon...got the latest updated version 4.1 and could not be happier with the results. Again just a casual photographer but simple to use and the results can be outstanding..do not have to be pro to use and once you have mastered the in and outs you will be impressed...highly recommend this product and Amazon.

> 3 dayMakes photos POP. Very simple (yet lots of power). Free effortless and seamless upgrade to Photomatix Pro5. People think I have a $1,000 camera when I only have a point & shoot cheapo digital camera. The only downside (if you can call it a downside) is that the GUI is not glitzy, just very basic, but that makes the photos look even better.

23-11-2024I have begun teaching HDR photography in my photography classes. Needless to say, we use Photomatix Pro in that class. Although there are other useful software products, Photomatix Pro is by far the most comprehensive. It allows you to make many interpretations of the same set of exposures. You can go from realistic, to super realistic, to over the top with the same set of origingal captures. Granted, it is a little intimidating the first few times you encounter the Detail Enhancer interface (to say the least!), but with a little practice it quickly becomes familiar. You will need to post process most of the images you create in an image editing program to achieve optimal results. But this is also a way to make addition interpretations of your image because of the great amount of detail in images made with HDR techniques. I highly recommend this product!
