> 3 dayHaving experimented with a free download HDR software and having read several reviews I plumped for Photomatrix Pro. You can purchase it cheaper as a download from the HDR Soft website but I always prefer the comfort of a disk in a box! Version 4.2 supplied (not 4.1 as advertised) complete with a instructional brochure. Can be used straight away as is simple and fairly intuitive and comes set up with several pre-set option effects. (You can also save any of your own preferences). So you can have some great tone-mapped images with-in minutes of installing. If you have some suitably bracketed images, you might even have some good starter HDR images.

Greater than one weekMakes photos POP. Very simple (yet lots of power). Free effortless and seamless upgrade to Photomatix Pro5. People think I have a $1,000 camera when I only have a point & shoot cheapo digital camera. The only downside (if you can call it a downside) is that the GUI is not glitzy, just very basic, but that makes the photos look even better.

> 3 dayIve recently started to take some HDR landscape photographs. I use photoshop for most editing, but for me, the photoshop HDR compositing portion is difficult to understand. The Photomatrix Pro add on seems to be much more effective for the initial image and the composite image can be further edited in Photoshop. Best of both worlds.

> 3 dayThis is a trial software that leaves watermarks on the photos you print so you can try it before purchasing. This program can actually be obtained free from the company that makes it.

> 3 dayAt least it comes with a marginal manual. Wished I could say the same for that crappy Lightroom 4 software. At least I can open a file and save a file. Fairly easy to figure out w/o a manual and the results are good.

> 3 dayI have been a Photomatix Pro 4 user since 2011. It is great HDR software, but the Pro 5 version is significantly improved. The ghosting removal option is worth the upgrade price, but if you already have the Pro 4 version the upgrade is available for free. HDRsoft customer service is outstanding. After helping me establish proof of purchase for version 4, I was provided with a link that allowed me to upload version 5. I learned about the product upgrade at a Rocky Mountain School of Photography. The instructor
