> 3 dayBig disappointment! I got on the air with a neighbor and the audio was badly distorted RX and TX. We found out that if I put a 100 HZ offset over his frequency we could talk without the distortion. Even after adding the 100 Hertz, the reception quality was very poor for a $250.00 radio.

> 3 dayI attached power to the radio and the fuse blew in my power supply as well as the inline fuse in the red power cord. Using a VOM I determined that pins 1 and 3 of the power connector on the back panel are shorted inside the radio. It didnt even work for a second. DOA

> 3 dayThis radio is a waste of good money. Specs say you get 12 watts on AM mode. I am lucky to get 3 Watts on any mode. Will not receive from a friend that lives e miles away pushing 200 Watts on his radio. Either I received a defective radio or it is pure junk. Have contacted seller and have yet to receive a reply. I have completed the modification to the radio so I doubt if they will allow me to return it. I will take it to a shop and have it tuned properly but that will cost me another $100.00. Should have purchased the Uniden 980.

> 3 dayI bought this to replace an old Cobra. I had this tuned when I bought it and it arrived ready to go. It is being used as a base station with a simple inverted V dipole antenna. Works great! The receiver is pretty good for this type of radio. Not as good as the one on my Yaesu 991A but then what is. The transmit is good, it puts out a solid 30-35 watts PEP and the audio sounds clean and well balanced. I get decent communications with mobiles about to about ten miles on AM and a bit further on SSB. I use it to monitor 38LSB so I know when skip is coming in.
