I am the 73 year old Chemist that just built my own computer and I love it. This was one component so I have quicker performance to go along with my lightening fast reflexes, LOL. Regards

Bought this drive to put into an external case to use as a super mega flash drive. I store images of computers that I do software repairs on. Just incase the user wants to trash their computer again with a virus, I can easily restore their computer again. This SSD has the space I need and the speed to do the onsite imaging quickly. This would be a great solution for a backup drive.

It is nice to just pop a tiny drive onto your motherboard and not need power or data cables to make it work. If you pick up a good drive like this from a company that backs their product it is hard to go wrong. I ran this drive in my Ryzen system and compared it to other NVMe drives. The drives I used for comparison were the 1TB and 512GB Western Digital Black, 1TB Samsung 960 Evo, 1TB Samsung 970 Evo, and the 1TB HP EX920. All of these drives are fast enough that unless you have a specialized use case and you know you’ll benefit from a particular drive you generally won’t notice any difference during the course of normal use. In the end, I’d recommend this drive and say to choose whatever drive that is priced the best at the time you are buying as long as it has the backing and warranty that you want.

Decided to build a new machine as my previous W10 machines processor was not supported by W11. I previously used 3 SATA SSD drives which were a tremendous improvement over traditional HDD drives. For my new build I decided to use the latest SSD technology with the M.2 NVMe slot. My new motherboard has (3) such slots. I bought two drives that basically look like memory sticks. I have a boot and a data drive. My machine can boot in about 10 seconds. Amazing. Data transfer speeds are way up as well. I am extremely happy with these drives. They are relatively inexpensive for the technology improvements.

I dont write many reviews, but I felt this was necessary for a product with so many positive reviews. I purchased a 2tb version of the 970 Evo plus 13 months ago. Was easy to install and ran very quickly, but the drive suddenly locked and went read only after only 20tb of writes, well within the warranty terms. After doing some sleuthing online it appears this is becoming a more common problem with Samsung drives. Samsung does not make the warranty process easy. The automated online portal does not support ssds only appliances. I ended up calling and after talking to multiple support people (at one point Samsung transferred me to Seagate support?) someone finally gave me the proper email form I had to fill out and send in. Since doing this, the support group has been entirely unresponsive for several weeks and I have no idea what the status is other than it was recieved. It appears I am not the only one with this support issue and apparently this is normal for Samsung. Their RMA process is terribly slow and takes an excessive amount of time to get a response, basically forcing you to purchase another drive if you dont want your PC potentially offline for several months waiting for a replacement. Ive been waiting a month just to get a response to my initial request this is after I already attempted to follow up. Something for people to consider when selecting a new drive.

There doesn’t need to be this much packaging around this product. Especially single use plastics! Smaller packaging would also enable higher density for transport. Up your environmental game Samsung.

Samsung provides free, data migration software on their website, making their SSDs a logical choice for easy drive replacement or cloning. Im extremely pleased with the ease of data transfer, and with the final installation. Whats especially nice about Samsungs migration software is that it does the volume partitioning for you, so you dont have to fuss with figuring out the disk management -- like Ive been told by several techs -- that you will probably have to when using other migration software.
