> 3 dayAfter upgrading my Mac Mini I decided to see what a new hard drive would do for my MacBook Pro Early 2011 would do. Purchase, formatted, and cloned the drive using the internal options of the Mac OS. Did not check to see if the drive was encrypted and ran into issues. Erased the drive remove the encryption on the original drive and cloned a second time. The device booted and ran the system and at that point, I decided to install in the machine. Very, very, very happy. The response times are as quick as my new Macbook Pro or my Mac Mini but, I am thrilled at the speed and responsiveness. I am not going to blame the drive because the machine is not as fast as my newer devices because this one is limited to 8GB Ram where the other two devices are equipped with at least 16GB Ram. Worth the time, effort, and money.

Greater than one weekI can clone it with the Samsung Data Migration Program. I keep it as a spare in case my internal 850 EVO 500GB ever bites the dust. For this price, its worth having an immediate spare in case the one in the Laptop goes belly up.

> 3 dayBought this for my MacBook and it has helped with its speed. Very quiet compared to previous hard drive and looks good (although when it’s placed inside your Pc you won’t see it lol).

> 3 dayDecent amount of space (4TB), and the price dropped quite enough to be barely palatable (~ 1,000 USD at the time of writing this).

> 3 dayMy old drive crashed and I ordered the Samsung 860 EVO with 500 GB storage. Installation was easy with the exception that I made a mistake when I attempted to restore the backup. I contacted Samsung support as I thought I may have received a bad drive. Samsung support could not help me with my backup software but did explain how to determine if the drive was good. It was!! Samsung support was very friendly and helpful and could not have been nicer in the whole process. The bottom line is that the drive works, the backup software went exactly as it should have and my computer now works great. My boot time with my old drive usually ran in the 75 second area. My new boot time is now 35 seconds. At this point I am a happy camper!!

> 3 dayOur family archive (common files, videos, pictures, projects, etc.) were on a 4TB spinning hard drive. I configured the machine it was in to let it sleep when not in use. Backed it up to a portable 4TB drive periodically. Then a few weeks ago it disappeared from the network. I logged into the server and it was a hard failure. (CRC check errors)

Greater than one weekMy MacBook Pro had the slow 750GB 5400 RPM hard drive. I bought an external hard drive to do a Time Machine backup of my MacBook Pro. The Samsung was easy to install. Be sure to initialize it as Apple Extended Journal (takes a few seconds) before trying to restore the Time Machine backup. Once the backup was restored the MacBook Pro booted straight away. It now takes about 20 seconds rather than 1-2 minutes to boot up.

> 3 dayIf the step down to TLC is OK then this is a great drive for the price. Installed in a gen5 i7 NUC along with a 970 EVO 1TB M.2 for a nice small bulletproof computer that takes no room on my small work desk. Runs much cooler than the 1TB 7200RPM Hitachi that it replaced.

> 3 dayI have a pair of laptops that work okay but are really slugs, taking a real long time after boot to settle down and be usable. I did some analysis and found they were both at 100% disk utilization. Could not find any software reasons for this so when I saw this drive on sale I went for it. The Samsung disk clone software ( free download location in the instructions) worked very well with only one exception (more below). Drive seems solid and once installed really fixed my issue and now the laptops are ready to go within a minute or less. Disk utilization down to only a few percent. Much cheaper than a new laptop, should get another 3-4 years out of the ones I have now.
