> 3 dayI replaced my spinning 1TB drive with this SSD drive. My 8-year-old desktop computer starts Windows 10 in 26 seconds ready to log in and most programs launch and documents open in about second each (Word, Excel, Firefox).

17-04-2025I have a Lenovo Legion y7000p that came with a 2.5 Seagate 1 Tb hdd (in addition to a 250 Gb nvme M.2 but thats a different review) that Ive needed to upgrade. The Samsung 860 EVO 2 Tb came in today and I had it installed in about 15 minutes. If youve never done a drive install in a laptop before, Id recommend you do your research on how to access it and swap it out. Its usually not too difficult but every laptop is different. Also, in my case, the 2.5 drive is a secondary, storage drive and NOT the boot drive. After a quick partition and format (Win10) it was ready to go.

> 3 dayI originally had a 120gb UV400 Kingston SSD which was doing good and still works perfectly fine. I built my pc last year and at the time, 120gb was more than enough. But over time, my game library grew and needed more space because I didnt want to keep waiting on load times on my hard drive. Based on other reviews and videos online, I concluded that it was finally time to upgrade SSDs so I decided to go with Samsung because of their data migration software. If youre looking to just do a fresh install of windows, maybe another SSD will do you good but Samsung has everything done right. Their software made it easy to transfer all my data from my previous SSD to the new one. After migrating all my data, I decided to do a little boot test. To turn on my computer with my old Kingston SSD was about 20-25 seconds and I was logged in and on the desktop. Then with the Samsung, it was a little bit faster around 20 seconds which was still noticeable. Then I enabled what they call Rapid Mode in their software which uses your CPU and Ram to help accelerate things even further. I certainly was caught off guard to notice that my computer was booted into my desktop within 15-17 seconds which is still noticeably faster. So if youre looking for the best of the best, or just want to know that transferring data will be easy, go with Samsung.
