SAMSUNG T5 Portable SSD 1TB - Up to 540MB/s - USB 3.1 External Solid State Drive, Black (MU-PA1T0B/AM)

Ive spent my career in tech, and I still spent 4 hours trying to install, including contacting customer service, deinstalling the latest upgrade, reinstalling an older driver --- to no avail. I purchased a Western Digital G drive off the Apple.com site for a fraction of the price, and it installed easily in less than a minute. I love my Samsung TVs, but this SSD is not compatible with Apple OS (as it states).

I have purchased 5 of these drives in the 1 TB SSD drives. One each for my two children and three for myself. I film my sons sporting events and edit and post movies on YouTube. It takes quite a bit of storage space, hence the need for multiple drives. I have been happy with each purchase but this last drive, though the same model, seems to have a slower transfer rate. It is so much slower than the other drives I have used. I improved it slightly by using the USB cable from a previous drive I had purchased. If I make another purchase of an SSD I will look hard at a different brand.

Samsung SSD have always been great

Bought in December 2019 for my Mac book pro. Worked excellent and now stopped working a couple of weeks ago. When I connect it says backup incomplete then just stops backing up. Cannot access any files.

I love SSD. I hate how the prices keep dropping, but once you see it in action, you can never go back to a flash drive or bulky disk drive. Get a case for this to keep your data safe.

I wanted a portable store for media which I can use when travelling.

This particular drive is being used as a boot drive on an older system - you would think using a USB3 connection to a USB-C SSD wouldnt be fast enough to get the job done but its excellent performance, speed and quickness makes for an excellent boot drive for legacy systems. I even bought one for the wifes computer to help that one along. A great value for the price. It is so small it will literally fit in your shirt pocket and contains velcro so you could velcro the unit to the back of a PC tower or display. Verified works fine on both Windows and Mac systems if formatted for such things. Next time Id get the larger version to have a larger overall boot drive on the system but this will be a great carry around emergency boot drive for any system.

It’s small and compact but offers mobility if needed. Feels like quality since it’s outside is metal.

I purchased this for music storage. All I had to do was format it for use with my Mac and start using it.
