Purchased two of these 512GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive. Unpackaged both USB Drives and added them to my laptop. BOTH DRIVE SPACE ONLY = 460GB each!!!! << NOT EVEN CLOSE >> NO ADDED SOFTWARE ->> >>> 52GB SHORT per-USB Drive. -- TOTAL LOST Drive space = 104GB. You need to do better SanDisk!

This is my second time buying the disk on key 512 GB by SanDisk. The product arrives with about 50 GB less they are occupied for system files and background stuff. I noticed while transferring photos and videos that it is pretty slow lower to be precise slower than I expected it to be after running a few tests. I found out that my discount keys are running slower than advertised on the package and in the description. Overall I am going to be using these due to the fact that they still have a decent amount of storage for my usage and their size which is the biggest perk in my opinion.

I had almost 100 Hi8 tapes to digitize using a VIDEO2DIGITAL® CONVERTER 3.0 (THIRD GENERATION). They recommended using a SanDisk USB drive for its speed and quality. I used the 256GB size and it worked flawlessly. It is hard to believe I have 30+ years of old home made movies in a drive the size of a fingernail. I made copies of them and attached paper key tags to label them. Then I gave them to my sister and grown up daughters as birthday presents. What could be a better present than their memories? I also bought a USB to Type C adapter and can take all of these videos with me to show on my Android phone. Amazing!

Pros: 1. This drive has been very reliable, and Ive never had any problems with reading or writing data from it. 2. Its tiny! It could, in theory, be plugged into a laptop semi-permanently without much trouble. Cons: 1. The thing is made of cheap, flimsy plastic that looks like it would break if I ever tried to carry it around in my pocket. 2. Its super slow. Plan for USB 2.0 (or worse!) speeds. Other thoughts: Originally I got this for archival purposes, as 512GB flash storage was nothing to sneeze at in 2020. Earlier this year (2023) I switched to a much better archival system, and so nowadays I instead keep it plugged into my main rig as permanent storage, with recycle bin enabled. I basically use it in place of the Downloads folder, for all the stuff, both wanted and unwanted, that you accumulate browsing the internet, watching media, etc. This has allowed me to use my main SSD for more important files, and saved me the inconvenience of upgrading to something larger. So, its definitely nice to have. I wouldnt recommend it though, as there are much better options out there. Speed really does matter a lot.
