Firstly, this is a small compact drive that sticks out about as far as a wireless mouse USB adapter (see pics). Format NFTS for program installs. My primary use for this drive is for steam / programs. Pros: Fast read speeds around 135-140/MBs Small and compact Cons: Inconsistinent write speeds, fluctuates from 10/MBs to 60-70/MBs (observed through Task manager), a benchmark tool seems to average this number out to around 30-35/MBs. For me, thats not really an issue, but for some that may be. Space, this one should garner some critical criticism and should be asked why these companies are straight up lying to consumers about it. Formatted this to NFTS at 4096 byte allocation, that being said the system reports it at 494,206,431,232 bytes = 460.265605926514 GB. 512,000,000,000 bytes is 476.837158203125 GB, where are the the other 17,793,568,768 bytes = 16.5715522766113 GB? This means that Sandisk is selling 96.46324% of 512GB claimed capacity. What if you bought a car and got that much of it? Itd be right back on the lot and complaints to the dealer and the manufacturer would flood in. Its not ok and if this wasnt one of the few small profile drives on the market Id be sending it back, but need necessitates compromise. Overselling and under providing seems to be the new go-to for companies. This is entirely why this drive is getting 3 stars. UPDATE FEBRUARY 26TH 2023 This drive was intended for use as a steam drive for games. It really sucks for that. The random IO is atrocious. A game that was around 50gb took literally days to install. The write speed took a dive and was in the kbs range the entire time. Im not using it for a steam drive anymore. Its now just storage. Sequential write and read are about the same, but dont expect random IO to be anything but complete garbage.

Very small, attractive package with rounded edges and big storage capacity. To think how much memory devices have improved! Comes with useful vault password-needed software to protect files. Two thumbs up.

I am obsessive about keeping track of things that are important to me, and have a tenancy to have a decent capacity flash drive on me at all times. Sometimes its on a necklace chain, sometimes on a clip with my keys, but its always affixed to something difficult to lose. This dish drive however, defied all efforts to be fixed to a clip, or necklace. You might be able to get some delicate ribbon through the loop, but nothing of substance. After keeping careful track of this for months, and constantly searching for a means to secure it, I could find nothing that would fit through the loop. Other than being supremely easy to lose by even the most obsessive persons, its a good flash drive, and I have no other complaints.

these thumb drives are great for adding permanent storage upgrades to devices like your xbox 360 and occulus. my only complaint is they are fragile and you have to make sure not to step on crush or bend them. they also generate a ton of heat that they dissipate poorly so they can get super hot just being idley plugged in.

Exactly what I wanted - its so small and has excellent capacity. I loaded up my entire music library and plugged it in to the dash of my car. Youd never know it was there. Only problem is, the fit is so snug, and the lip of the drive is so small, I cant grasp it to remove it! The lip is just a bit of plastic. Im afraid if I try to remove it with a tool Im going to crack it.

It is tiny but compact, which is very convenient considering my previous 1tb storage looks like a block of brick. So I panicked when I lost the usb after less than 2 months of use, looked everywhere but couldnt find it. So I decided to order another one of the usb again. Then I found my previous usb drive in the laundry a few days later lol. It still works, no data were corrupted from what I have checked! Now Sandisk profits from twice the USB sale, clever girl.

Plug it to my laptop and never worry about accidentally breaking it since its so tiny. Have been using it for months and no issue at all. Very robust.

I will preface this by saying that I had to order a replacement right away as my first one showed up melted inside the packaging to where it wouldnt even fit into a USB port if I would try. My second one showed up and seemed to be in perfect condition, so I got to using it right away. Formatting took a strangely long time, using default settings. I thought nothing of it at first blaming windows. Creating a folder on the device locked up my windows explorer for about 10 seconds which raised suspicions, but blamed the OS again. Then transferring files from one device to another took significantly longer than many other flash drives I have. I tested it on my android device, another PC, and even a PS4. This thing is just very slow when making any changes to the contents of the device. Reading performs well enough, but certainly slower than others I have. Even moving files from one folder to another within the drive takes a few seconds to even start the operation. All in all, it works. Maybe I just have bad luck with these, but if thats all you need, this is okay. If you need better perfomance out of a low profile USB drive, get a Samsung Fit. Those work without any of theissues mentioned above.
