Scotch Thermal Laminator, 2 Roller System for a Professional Finish, Use for Home, Office or School, Suitable for use with Photos (TL901X)

Purchased this when it was a daily Amazon special and am so happy I did! Ive used it to laminate aging sheet music and to protect recipes from the ravages of kitchen spills. Both were easily and quickly done, with great results. The Laminator: Its a lightweight, small footprint device that is very simple to operate. On/Off switch, a release lever to use if the item you are laminating jams, and a 3mm or 5mm switch - relates to the thickness of whatever you are laminating; use the 5mm for thick paper or two regular sheets of paper which are back to back. The 5mm setting is the hottest and the machine takes about 8 minutes to heat up for initial use at this setting. When placing two regular sheets of paper back to back (with recipes on each side), inserting them in the 9 x 12 pouches with the crease into the machine first (any bubbles escape out the open end), I was able to laminate my project in less than 10 seconds. Very quick and easy, and the front end (the part that comes out of the machine first) is cool to the touch with the end out last cooling off in approximately 15 seconds. The laminator remains hot and after multiple sheets, I noticed no change in the output quality of this laminator. The Pouches: The laminating pouches that are used with this machine come in several brands including the Scotch brand. All are on Amazon and you can choose smaller sizes than the 2 large sized ones that come with this unit, but Id suggest the same size and if you choose to laminate two smaller items you can simply use one pouch and cut the final sheet into two. Tips: Make sure when you are laminating that you have at least a quarter inch around the item you are laminating so that the pouch can adhere to itself - sealing the sides and protecting your item. If you leave the item sticking out, proper adhesion cant occur. Dont put lumpy items in the machine to be laminated. This will jam the machine and wont get the item laminated! I bought this Scotch Thermal Laminator hoping to laminate some of our recruiting material to hand out on the street corners to the disaffected youth of my assigned city for my two year committment. I belived the Scotch Thermal Laminator would lend some credibility to our youth movement. I also believed that despite being made fun of and tormented by the youth, they would realize that we take our beliefs seriously and took the time to laminate our literature. Since we normally travel in pairs, we always want to present the same professional image and therfore wear ties. Heres a hint - ties and lamination machines do not mix. The lighting is subpar in our temple so I had to lean over the Scotch Thermal Laminator to ensure it was hot enought to use. It was! When I leaned over, my tie was accidentally fed into the insertion slot and pulled me into it! Im natuarally a panicky soul, at least according to the Father, and I didnt know what to do. My tie was being fed into the machine and my face was getting closer. In fact, I could smell my first beard attempt starting to singe! Thankfully Jebidiaha saw what was happening and simply unplugged the Scotch Thermal Laminator. Sadly, our bikes were stolen from out front while this was happening, but at least we got our brochures laminated and distributed even if it was on foot. I would buy this again. In fact I WILL repurchase this same Scotch Thermal Laminator model once our headquarters wires us our monthly stipend. My only real complaint is that the machine doesnt have a reverse button. :)

Our laminator at school broke, so I bought this for laminating the little stuff. After I ran my first item through, I could not even believe how high the quality of laminating was. This little thing is a champ and it’s so quiet I couldn’t even tell it was on at first.

Works great but if you have a big project you will have to break it up and do it in small batches. Machine gets really got and starts to have issues after an couple hours of use. Otherwise heats up quickly and works great.

Worked better than I expected. Does not really laminate thicker papers but regular white paper works well.

Works great easy to use

Ive always wanted a laminator. It works great! It seals totally with one run through. It is compact and fits perfectly on a little side table with my printer. It heats up quickly, and runs quietly. I just laminated a friends mothers obituary. She really appreciated it. The Scotch laminating pockets are perfect for using with it. They are a nice weight and you get 100 for a very reasonable price. They come out nice and clear. I highly recommend it and look forward to doing lots of projects on it.

I got this for my homeschooling classroom. I had one from another brand and it broke when a paper got stuck. So you can imagine how happy in was when I saw the release button. It came with laminating sheets too which I didnt expect.

After several years of frequent use, my original Scotch laminator bit the dust. I definitely got my moneys use of it! Im not a fan of this new model at all. I never worried about my pages not being lined up exactly when they went through the machine. The tray made sure they went through perfectly. Although the new model is sleek and slim, I have messed up a few pages because they were not lined up perfectly with the grooves. The laminating quality is still great, but its just not as easy to use. Bring the tray back, Scotch, please!
