CONSIGLIATISSIMO!

> 3 dayIve owned a few of these drives for a while now (One of these and two black ones). I was close to sending this one back recently as I started to get timeouts and USB disconnects. However, I did a bit of testing and found that: - It was easy to reproduce - random read (or write) I/Os towards the end of the disk did the trick. - It happened in Windows and Linux. - It also happened when I tried the same tests on the other drives, which had so far caused no issues. What I think is happening is the operations, which are longer because of the shingling process, were simply taking too long and the drive was becoming saturated. Once a timeout threshold is reached, the I/O will be retried - you will see this in the System log in Windows, or dmesg in Linux (not sure how logging is done on Macs as I dont use them, but it will be similar). Too many retries and the OS will reset the USB port and its downhill from there. The simple rule here is you cannot use these drives for anything remotely day-to-day. Use them to store and retrieve data long term and try not to do much more with it. In my case all I was doing was some downloads directly onto the drive (multiple parallel downloads hence random I/O). Instead do your work on better disks - either internal HDDs/SSDs or non-shingled USB drives, and then copy the data across. Still, the price per capacity is good on these. As long as you know their limitations.

> 3 dayWorks perfectly for me so far, its easy to use and I set it up in under ten minutes. I have the series s so this was needed. The one problem I have comes in the way of smart delivery sometimes I need to keep moving games from internal to external and vice versa in order to play them however its all done in about 15 minutes and you can store your series x/s games on the drive but wont be able to play them.

> 3 dayI have had this for around 6 months, I probably play Xbox a couple times a month at most and just went to turn it on today and it no longer shows up. I’d highly suggest getting a different hard drive

> 3 dayI have nothing bad to say about the storage unit, I bought it for the sole purpose of having additional storage space for my Xbox One, You run out of room very quickly with the standard 1Tb of storage, we are looking at max 20 games, then the constant updates and all games have to be stored to HD, so for me, the unit is fantastic and I would recommend. Mot cheap, but it is Xbox one, and I bought it for the reasurance that it would work with no issues.

> 3 dayGreat for the capacity. But slow on loading. I notice it massively on PUBG, waiting for maps to load. I moved PUBG back to the internal and it loads fine. You won’t notice the slow loading when you are playing non multiplayer games. But having said that, it is full of over 180 games.. so I will give it some slack. Roll on M.2 NVME pro very reductions and capacity increases.

> 3 dayI really enjoy this products aesthetic. The engraved surface looks and feels much greater than it looks in the photo. This unit came formatted with NTFS / MBR. However, I found that it has less capacity than advertised. Please see the comparison with Samsung T5 2000 GB drive. Windows 10 shows 1,950,386,618,368 bytes = 1816.44 GiB = 1.77 TiB (= 1.95 TB) instead of 1.81 TiB (= 2 TB). Because all the hard drive manufacturers define 2TB as 2,000,000,000,000 bytes, it is NOT a binary/decimal conversion problem. It really lacks capacity. I dont know if my unit has a defect, or the other units are the same. I left an inquiry on Seagate customer support, but they didnt try to understand the real capacity loss. They repeated that it will vary by how I initialize the disk even though they provided pre-formatted drive. I was advised to check the capacity with Seagate Seatools. I found Youtube videos that use this drive in XBOX and show 1.7 TB available, while WD Elements show 1.8TB. If it is intended, I assume that the 50GB might be a reserved space for CMR caching for this SMR drive. Fortunately, Ive never seen any SMR-related performance drop yet. At a desktop PC, one USB 3.0 port showed 130 MB/s read and 30 MB/s write, while another USB 3.0 port showed 130 MB/s read and 130 MB/s write. It might be a power delivery problem. If your unit shows very slow write, just try on another USB port. Finally, Crystal Disk Info shows SATA300 / SATA600 transfer mode, which means the internal SATA3 drive is connected with SATA2 USB bridge chip. Even though the enclosure looks fantastic, you will not be satisfied if you replace the internal hard drive to any SSD.
