Seagate Game Drive STGG8000400 8 TB Portable Hard Drive - External - White, 4.6 in x 1.6 in x 7.8 in

Ive been buying Seagate External Hard Drives/Flash Drives for years, never had an issue with any. Just wished they would bring the price down, and create larger drives, especially for my xbox (coz the games are very large!)

Although I brought this in readiness of the XBoxOne X Ive Been using my New 8Tb Drive on my Base Model Xbox One and am extremely Happy with it. Connecting it was simple with no need to format the drive for it to be recognised. In real world usage I am Shifting around 10gigs of data a minute, when transferring between HDDs and 10gigs in around 1m30 (@ around 240mb/s dl speed on my 300mb connection) Its also really quiet with minimal noise even while transferring large amount of data (over 1.5tb) continuously... In normal use its practically silent. I also have my Old 1tb and 2tb hard drives connected to the USB ports on the new drive and all 3 are detected and work without Any issues. Im also reasonably sure that the load times of my old externals and definitely the transfer speeds to and between my old externals have improved. I can only imagine its something to do with all the externals operating through the one USB port on the Xbox and direct link between the 3 externals. I Highly recommend the Seagate Gamehub. There are lower capacity Versions than the 8tb I purchased and they come with a 2yr manufacturers warranty.

I have nothing bad to say about the storage unit, I bought it for the sole purpose of having additional storage space for my Xbox One, You run out of room very quickly with the standard 1Tb of storage, we are looking at max 20 games, then the constant updates and all games have to be stored to HD, so for me, the unit is fantastic and I would recommend. Mot cheap, but it is Xbox one, and I bought it for the reasurance that it would work with no issues.

My son has a 500GB xbox one and had to delete games to use the news one he had acquired. In others words he had run out of space for new games. The new xbox is not yet affordable so this was a reasonably priced solution. He just plugged it in with the usb and within a very short time he was using it. Very simple to use and it does the job. It holds up to 2TB and it looks good. He is well pleased. This is a good way of expanding the storage on the xbox one.

Jai acheté ce produit pour avoir de lespace de stockage en plus pour ma xbox one! Avec 8To, jai de quoi voir venir! Et surtout jai pris celui-ci plutôt quun 4to car il fait hub usb 3.0, pour y brancher mes deux manettes filaires qui sont donc en façade du HDD, avec donc les cordons bien droits et non plus courbés comme sur la xbox one avec ses prises usb à larrière et sur le côté! Et ça fonctionne très bien; pas de latence à lappui sur les boutons! Le disque est silencieux, et bien quil est un transfo dalimentation, lorsque vous éteignez la console, après refroidissement, il séteint aussi! Je suis entièrement satisfait, dautant que lorsque jai déplacé mes jeux du hdd de la console vers le disque, ça a été rapide!(plusieurs centaine de giga)!

I was tired about managing games on my internal HDD and my two external HDD (respectly 1To and 2TO 25 HDD in USB3.0 and the 1To of the internal HDD) because Im a huge gamer on Xbox One, I have ton of games from Xbox Originals, Xbox 360 and now Xbox One with all the low prices of games in promotion or free with games with gold (for Xbox Live Gold Members, 4 games free every month !) and now with Gamepass its a lot of game to play ... And I dont want to made choice, I want to play my game now and not waiting it is downloading because I was obligate to delete it to have more space ... so with 8To, you will be quiet untill the next generation ! I allready put all my HDD content on it and I have 4,2 To ! It is more speed than a 25 HDD, it is well design, just it made a little bit of noise but its not to high ! For me its definitively the best solution to storage game on console ! I recommand it ! And I have it for a great price ! 150 euro ! The price of 4To with the double of capacity ! Great !

Diese Platte ist eigentlich nur die weiße Version der Seagate STEL8000200. Es soll wohl optisch besser zur XBox passen, aber technisch gibt es keine Unterschiede, es ist intern exakt die gleiche Platte verbaut und Laufgeräusch etc. ist alles gleich. Im Vergleich zu den Seagate Expansion Desktop mit 4 TB oder 5 TB hat diese 8 TB-Platte ein niedrigeres Laufgeräusch, was wohl dem anderen Gehäuse geschuldet ist. Das ist positiv, wie auch die zwei USB-Ports zum Anschluss weiterer Geräte. Denn mit USB 3.0-Ports wird an Mainboards hinten meist etwas gegeizt. Was man wissen muss: Genau wie die Expansion Desktop mit 5TB nutzt diese 8TB-Platte sog. Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR). Die Datenspuren werden überlappend geschrieben, was als Nebenwirkung hat, dass der Controller bei langen Schreibvorgängen irgendwann anfängt, die Datenhäppchen passend umzusortieren. Dadurch kann dann irgendwann die Schreibgeschwindigkeit ins Bodenlose sinken (einstellige MB/s), bis die Daten fertig umsortiert sind. Dies kommt naturgemäß bei hohem Füllstand häufiger vor. Der beste Anwendungsfall ist also das Datengrab, sie also zur Speicherung von Daten zu nutzen, welche selten verändert und hauptsächlich gelesen werden. Wenn man immer wieder viele neue Daten auf die Platte schreiben will, wird man damit eventuell nicht ganz so glücklich. Übrigens, es kann sein, dass die Datenrate erstmal bei sehr niedrigen Werten zu verharren scheint, um die 30, 40 MB/s. Dies ist kein Problem mit der Platte an sich (sie kann weit über 100 MB/s übertragen), sondern man muss ggf. einmal das USB-Kabel aus- und wieder einstecken. Ich hatte das schon mit zwei dieser Platten, dass sie anfangs sehr langsam waren, bis ich einmal das Kabel umgesteckt hatte. Danach lief aber alles einwandfrei schnell und blieb auch so. Wie gesagt bis auf eventuell gelegentliches SMR-Umsortieren.

Ho avuto con mio enorme stupore inizialmente qualche problema nel farlo riconoscere al mio xbox one x, ma staccando e riattaccando il cavo in dotazione con le diverse porte USB alla fine lo ha visto ed ha avviato una semplice procedura di formattazione dove con un paio di passaggi sono stato pronto a trasferire buona parte dei dati che avevo sullhdd interno ormai saturo. Ho anche scaricato una cinquantina circa di giochi col game pass e sia in fase di copiatura che di download non mi ha mai dato alcun problema. Coi giochi si comporta egregiamente risultando velocissimo, forse anche meglio dellhard disk originale interno con caricamenti e salvataggi super rapidi. 4 gb infine garantiscono per quanto mi riguarda un investimento per il futuro garantendomi tutto lo spazio necessario senza più pensieri. Esteticamente si presenta compatto, con il logo xbox ed un colore bianco molto gradevole che si sposa bene nel caso di mobili chiari in salotto (peccato la console esista solo nera al momento).
