> 3 dayI wanted large bowls (for enjoying big salads) that went with my collection of dishes from Japan. These looked like they could meet the need, and they were the largest ones I could find, holding 40 ounces according to the description. They survived shipment nicely, but when unpackaged, four of six had defects, either excessive glaze pooling or issues with the pattern (see photos; I couldn’t photograph the glaze pooling, so these are of the pattern defects). Only two of the six should have made it past quality control. I was really disappointed. But then I decided to reach out to the company, as the little note in the box said to if there were any issues. They offered a refund (though the amount they offered didn’t match what I had paid, was less by over $5), or a replacement set, without having to return the first set. I was a bit worried when I went for the replacement set; if it had 4 defective bowls as well, I didn’t know what I’d do then. But this time it came with only one bowl that had issues, and that was some smearing of the pattern on the outside in a small place. Not ideal, but not at all like the first batch. The remainder would pass strict QC, no problem, and were absolutely lovely. The bowls are large enough for a good, filling salad for my lunch, and they are pretty enough (the perfect ones, anyway) to go with my other Asian dishware. The colors are saturated nicely in the darker bowls, especially in the newer set, and the glaze is nice and even in this replacement set, no bubbling or pooling. I love that they go in the dishwasher; I have some others I don’t risk in there, but these have the shiny glaze that makes them safe for this. So, bottom line, if you need bowls like this, take the chance that you’ll get a really good set like I did the second time. If you don’t get a good set, or anything is broken or otherwise damaged, just let them know, and they are good about helping. The first set was three stars, the second five, which is why I averaged for a four star rating. Five stars for the customer service, though. I am going to enjoy using these every day.

> 3 dayI hemmed and hawed a good long time before deciding to purchase bowls large enough for a decent-sized portion of pasta or salad. I make what I call hot salads - roasted veggies over farro or similar whole grain (yes, I know, the Instagram set calls these dishes grain bowls), and the bowls that came with my old set were really only big enough for soup, and were too shallow to boot. Id searched for a 20-piece set that skipped the coffee mugs and provided instead a big bowl like this one, a smaller and deeper one (sometimes called an ice cream bowl), a dinner plate and a salad/dessert plate to no avail. Of the few sets I found, the larger hot salad bowl critical to my needs was always either gargantuan or too shallow. I ended up choosing these Selemica blue patterned bowls because at 40 oz and 9 diameter, they promised to be perfect. I also built a collection from the other Selemica offerings and now have a service for six thats very pretty and absolutely perfect for me. The porcelain is fine, the patterns do not look like the chintzy stamped designs often seen on lower price-point dinnerware, and I love that there are six unique patterns. The packaging was top-notch and everything arrived promptly in perfect condition. I cant say enough good things about this meal bowl.

> 3 dayI bought multiple sizes of plates and bowls and LOVE them, but after several washes in the dishwasher (claim to be dishwasher safe), they have started to fade, pretty badly. Now I have to handwash to them keep what design is left on them - HUGE DISSAPPOINTMENT having to handwash to keep them looking good!!!

> 3 dayI finally decided I need some larger soup bowls. I already had some of the smaller, dessert or tapas bowls in these patterns and was happy with them, so decided to buy some matching larger bowls. Im as pleased with them as with the smaller sizes. So colorful, matching just about any solid main pattern. Im extremely happy with my purchase.

Greater than one weekWow! I am so impressed with these bowls! They are even more stunning in person! They arrived in perfect condition and seem to be of very high quality. They are made of the heavier material and feel like they are sturdy and wont chip easily like some of that lighter weight material. The black specks are really faint - you almost dont even see them unless you are looking hard for them. The size is great - I used them immediately for a stir-fry rice bowl and it easily held a reasonable portion with room for a much larger portion. I think they could even be used as side dish serving bowls to hold maybe 4 portions-worth. They stack nicely and the colors are vivid and bright and true to the picture on the listing. The glazing job is flawless, even the underside. They are sort of somewhere between casual and fancy - I felt really upscale when using them for myself. I honestly could not be any happier with these lovely bowls!!! At about $7 a bowl, they are worth the price for sure. I very highly recommend them.
