> 24 hourBought these for my partner, who adores them for their light weight, comfortable fit, good touch controls, good quality voice pickup for video calls, and excellent noise-cancelling ability. I like them because we can talk - they just palm the right earcup to activate pass-through mode. Or, if we need a longer chat, they can pull off the headphones which automatically pauses the music. This has drastically reduced the number of annoyed looks I get. Win-win! Out of the box, the sound quality on these cans is decent but the headphones are more bass-heavy. The low end sounds a little “muddy”. There is an EQ adjustment in the accompanying Sony app, but after downloading it, quickly uninstalled it because the software demanded a lot of personal information. Wed rather rather live with the just-tolerable sound profile than give up all that information to Sony. One star off, Sony, for being just a bit too greedy and not respecting privacy; the app should come with no strings attached, especially given the cost of these headphones.

> 24 hourThese headphones were faulty when I got them. They wouldn’t stay connected to any device and randomly disconnected. I returned it and ordered a new pair but it took me a lil over two weeks to get a refund. I had to hunt drop it off at a specific Amazon locker and then contact customer sales after two weeks of not receiving updates. Luckily, they refunded me right away once they confirmed they got it. So here’s my revised review of the product. The Bluetooth connection does need to be set EACH time I use it with any apple products. Mildly annoying bc I’d love for it to connect automatically but I have it paired with three nearby devices so this is acceptable to me. The new pair sometimes disconnects randomly but not much and a quick button click gets it back on. With zoom it’s even more weird but I think that’s more to do with zooms interface than these headphones so I’m not faulting them here. Otherwise the sound quality is nice AF! And the cushions are ultra plush. I love it! I’ll update again if more things pop up but so far so good.

> 24 hourI loved the sound of these. They felt comfortable for a few hours before I got a headache (I wear glasses so finding headphones that I can wear longer is pretty impossible.) My only complaint which is why I returned them is I have colored hair and the cups absorbed all my hair color and stained. I always get black everything and the one time I got a different color for headphones my hair stains them...not worth $300+ if that happens.

> 24 hourIf you have the XM3/4 its not worth the upgrade and heres why: The biggest killer for me is its pauses audio when Im talking, this is extremely annoying. There is nothing I found in their Android app to fix this problem. The headband in narrower than the XM3/4 and therefore more uncomfortable. For the price, seriously Sony, you couldnt add a bigger battery and/or wireless charging? The XM5 anc (noise cancelling) wasnt that much better and it was actually a little worse than the XM3/4 when it came to the dreaded landscapers two-stroke buzz buzz test.... Definitely not worth $400, and not even $350 if you already have an XM4.

> 24 hourI choose this because not only is it a good product but it had next day shipping. Seller didn’t even ship it until two days AFTER it was supposed to be delivered. Then Amazon wouldn’t honor their refund date. I bought it here because I didn’t want to wait for Best Buy to order the headphones in. I should have because these took more than a week to get here. Great product just don’t buy from seller

> 24 hourThe Sony headphone is the best for both noise cancelling functionality as well as intuitive controls. It allows you to carry on conversations by pausing the noise cancelling function, the right headphone controls sound lsvel, forward and back, and they are super light. Battery life is excellent and the carrying case is functional and sturdy.

> 24 hourTo preface, I did not own the previous iteration of these headphones, the XM4. I did however have the XM3. So most of this review will be a comparisom from the 3 to the 5. That being said, here are my thoughts. Noise Canceling: As always, sony headphones are excellent at Canceling out noise. These headphones have 2 of the noise Canceling chips in them and double the microphones as the XM4. When listening to music the outside world is almost completely silent. Especially lower tones like the running of an engine, whether that be plane or car. Higher, fast tones slip through occasionally but not to any degree thats distracting. I find for the higher tones these headphones are much better than the XM3. Overall the noise Canceling is wonderful and definitely wont disappoint. Sound Quality: I am by no means a professional when it comes to audio. In my own experience I find that these headphones have great sound quality. Better than the XM3 infact. It feels more clear and crisp and the bass has a bit more oomph to it in my opinion. Overall its great sound and definitely an improvement from the XM3. As said before, I cant compare to the XM4 since Ive never had them. Build Quality: This is where the headphones fall a little short. The design, although incredibly comfortable, is rather plastic feeling. Its not cheap feeling plastic, but its definitely a plastic feeling. They are quite comfortable and I wore them for several hours at a time and never got any pain from them. In addition to the plastic feeling, these headphones also dont fold in on themselves like the previous iterations did. The cups flip over so the headphones can be laid flat but thats it. Subsequently, the included carry case is slightly larger than before. I personally havent had any qualms with its size but I think its something to keep in mind. Overall I think these are a fantastic pair of headphones and definitely worth the price if youre coming from the XM3 or earlier. Sound quality, noise Canceling capability, and comfort of the XM5s is just fantastic and its really a premium experience. Although its kinda plastic feeling I still feel it deserves five stars especially since the only time I notice the plastic is when theyre in my hands and not on my head.

> 24 hourAmazing headphones but issues with auto off, chat to speak features, they don’t work as intended so they have to be turn off, almost everyone is having issues with these features, you can do a quick google search. Hopefully we will get some updates from Sony..

> 24 hourI was never a fan of wireless headphones. I always forget to charge them, but thats not an issue with these. They have a VERY long battery life. Ive been using mine for 5-6 months so far, and the battery life does not disappoint. I charge mine about once a week, and I use them quite often. Almost every day for several hours! Theyre definitely friendly for those of you who forget to charge your devices frequently enough. Sound wise, theyre comparable to most Sony products. A little bass heavy, but not overtly so. The mids are eh, but the highs are good. If youre an audiophile, maybe these arent for you. But for the average listener, youll love these. They sound crisp and clear, and the volume is perfect. Noise canceling wise, these are great for traveling and blocking out noise from noisy neighbors. Car rides are nearly completely silent. If you listen to music, you wont be able to hear any background noise. The first time I put these on and turned them on, I almost cried. Silence was something Id really never got to experience, and these really delivered that. If youre autistic, these are a god-send. These are not great for blocking out dental equipment noises. Thats the reason I purchased these, and admittedly that was my own ignorance of how noise canceling worked, and the frequencies that would not be able to be canceled. But I loved these headphones so much I kept them. I think that says something about how incredible these are. Another feature I think thats worth mentioning is the ability to allow ambient noises in while listening to music. I can listen to music while having conversations with others, and it just harmonizes both sounds perfectly. I also love that theres a setting that you can allow voices in while keeping background ambience out. Over all, these are a solid set of headphones. Id recommend to anyone looking for a good noise canceling headphone, or just a solid pair of headphones period.
