Makes a great gift!

Did not provide the advertised battery life - The headphones with a full charge lasted at best 3 hours under constant use for video calls. Unacceptable. Sound quality was amazing though.

Great battery life. Controls via the app have added features that sometimes reduce quality of noise canceling features. Great build/ comfort and overall happy with purchase.

Cumbersome when compared to other noise cancelling headphones as well as HUGE case. The WH-1000XM4 case is very slim, sleek, and compact - something easily carried on a plane where one would expect to use it most. The WH-1000XM5 case is BULKY, oddly shaped, and definitely not something that can be easily carried on a plane and utilized. The main reason for this is that the headphones dont fold like the XM4s do which is a HUGE disadvantage in my opinion. I personally dont care for the on/off button either. Many other higher-end noise cancelling headphones utilize the tilting headphone as the on/off activation which is easy, efficient, and preserves the battery. And an app ... why on earth does one need an APP in order to use the headphones. The only thing these headphones really have going for them is their noise cancelling ability and battery life are good. The negatives far outweigh the positives for the XM5s. Save your money and buy the XM4s or even another brand if truly looking for an exceptional set of headphones as these definitely are not in my humble opinion.

Likes = design, comfort, sound quality and the versatile app Dislikes = tried using it for a work from home gig that i have which is 90% making calls and talking to people. However, connection quality is bad. Customers frequently say that my voice connection goes in and out. This doesn’t occur with calls on my cellphone but definitely occurs in calls I make through my work laptop. Its a bit disappointing seeing that I bought these earphones because they boast superior voice call quality using several microphones and background noise cancelling compared to other earphones…

I have had these for a month and they cannot play a full song without shutting off. I have disabled the auto off function and still, at times they can play for a matter of seconds before shutting off. This is my second bad experience with Sony. I will never recommend these or any other Sony device to anyone. For $400 they should be able to play uninterrupted for hours. What a waste.

It has some connection issues with my Samsung TV (and Im not sure whose fault that is), and it also randomly disconnects from whatever its connected to from time to time, but as noise-cancelling headphones go, its practically perfect. I live 12 miles from an air base and for some reason, the jets have to fly over MY HOUSE, EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE. I hate it here, but these have restored a portion of my sanity. If you have any hatred for any noise that you cant control, get these! Expensive, but worth the price!

I bought these with high expectations and did love the sound, but the headband did give me a bit of a headache so ended up returning

These really are amazing headphones! They are soft and comfortable, great sound quality, and the noise cancellation is unmatched. I dont use them to take calls but I am okay with that personally.
