Got this as a replacement for current mailbox that I have have 20+ years. It was like night and day as far as the quality of this one. It is very cheaply made and plastic was thin in spots. The pre drilled holes all had flashing on the inside and around each area. Could not even place the step 2 logo decal over the hole due to the hole being deformed and protruding out so far that the decal would not stay in place because it would not lay flat. The plastic was so warped on top of the base legthat it took two people to try to force the top of the mail box on to the connecting sliding grooves which were not even at all. Assembly was tedious. Next time i will just go to my local hardware store to see the product in person to judge if it is a quality product before buying. Lesson learned. Not even worth half of what I paid for it. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! THIS HAS TO BE A GENERIC KNOCK OFF! BUYER BEWARE!!! CAN NOT BE THE SAME MAKE/MODEL of the original step 2 brand.

Installation ease depends on the type of soil you are trying to dig 2 feet deep into. For me, it was clay and gravel used as a base under the curb and gutter. In other words, it was awful. The post (Not included) is not cheap with lumber prices these days. Otherwise, the mailbox is waterproof and stays closed during very gusty winds.

Not bad it works really well and I am pleased with it. was easy to setup and stays dry inside in heavy rain here. I do not know what happen with some of the others that said it leaked. I wish it had a longer cut out in the back for 4 ft of 4x4 post. It only has room for 2 ft of post above ground. While it is stable the add post height and two more screws would have made it extra sold.

We bought another brand mailbox that slid together, was wobbly and the door would not stay closed. This mailbox is held together with screws, it is super sturdy and the door latch is great.

The mailbox is installed and functioning well. Well see how it holds up in our snowy winters when the plows come down the street. I was a little surprised to see how small the actual mailbox is.

Great mailbox - this one is a replacement for one I had for over 20 years. It was easy to put together and install.

Product was easy to assemble. Snap in the door on the bock of the box for the newspaper/flyers under the mailbox, screw the mailbox to the post and mount the mailbox to a 4x4 in the ground. Done. If you dont want to dig a hole for the wood post, there is an option to buy a metal spike that you hammer into the ground and the 4x4 mounts to the metal spike. Design improvement - The screws that hold the mailbox on to the post now screw in from the outside of the mailbox. The older model had the screws on the inside of the box.
