Changing the fulcrum, this makes doorways wider. It’s very difficult to explain to anyone, and even hard to take a photo of. But the bottom line is that it makes doorways wider and it is fantastic for many situations

These hinges worked great, were easy to install, and added 2 inches to the doorway making it easier for a wheelchair to go through.

Easy to install, very sturdy. Only 2 hinges per order/package. Most doors have 3 hinges. The sturdiness of this hinge compensates for the third hinge. These hinges being slightly thicker may cause the door closing to be tighter. May need to mortise door and frame a little deeper to accommodate the thicker hinge.

I broke my kneecap and had to have surgery on it three times within a three month period. I was confined to using a wheelchair and a walker, neither of which would fit through the bathroom door without scrapping the door frame and the door. My husband, who is a home remodeler, had installed this type of hinge for another house but when he went to the hardware stores, he couldnt find them. We found them on Amazon. They are sturdy and perfect for giving that last inch or so of clearance so a wheelchair or walker can get through the door without tearing up the frame or door. The installation is pretty straight forward, though I recommend two people doing it, as the door has to be removed to change the hinges and it has to be held in place to rehang it. They do not look out of place and are not noticeably different. They have to be pointed out to be noticed. We will keep these hinges on the bathroom doors after I recover because they look good, and you never know when you might have a sudden need for them like I did.

Replaced existing hinges perfectly. I wish you could buy singles, I only needed three and had to buy two 2 packs.

I liked that by having a swing away hinge, it added another 1 to width of doorway to accommodate a regular sized wheelchair without having to cut out the doorway , incurring construction mess and cost. I dislike, very much, that when door is open, it leave about a 4 gap between door jam and door - very unattractive.
