Set up was amazingly simple. I’ve used other plugs in the past (Wyze and some generic) and they were difficult to set up on the apps. These were super simple, plug in, open app, click the plus, it identifies and installs. I’m rethinking if I should switch all of the ones that randomly stop working with each upgrade and make the switch to these.

Will not connect to any app over 2.4 or 5.0. Very frustrating.

I like that these smart plugs are easy to sync using the sylvania app, and they work with alexa. I dislike that that they dont work with the Smart Life app. But not all smart things do, and Sylvania has a reputation for reliable, long lasting components. The sylvania app also has no sketchy permissions requirement (correct me if Im wrong), unlike other chinese smart apps. So I am ok paying a bit more for reputable, reliable, quality smart plugs.

SYLVANIA Smart devices are the easiest and quickest to setup and they are the inexpensive way to smarten up any dumb devices. These SYLVANIA Smart WiFi Plugs are no different. It took around 30 seconds to add and configure each plug. Just have your smartphone connected to the 2.4GHz WiFi band, open the SYLVANIA Smart WiFi App and connect the plug to the wall outlet. The app even finds the WiFi plug, before I even have a chance to hit the + sign to select add a device. In case you have a Mesh Wifi, that might not allow you to manually select the 2.4GHz WiFi band, you could try going to the father place away from your WiFi router or satellite, where it might switch to 2.4GHz. I had to use an extension cord in the backyard to setup the plug, then I place it into the outlet I wanted the plug to be. There is an AP mode option, in case you are having troubles connecting. To enter AP mode, press the power button until it blinks rapidly, release it, then press the power button again until it blinks slowly. The blue LED is off when the plug is off, it is solid blue when the power is on, it blinks rapid blue when paring to Wi-Fi, and blinks slowly blue when setting on AP mode. The SYLVANIA Smart WiFi Plugs have a small profile and you can place two plugs on a wall outlet side by side. They have a three-prong outlet and a small blue LED indicator on the facia, and a three-prong plug on the back. They works really well with the SYLVANIA Smart WiFi App, as well as with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The mobile SYLVANIA Smart WiFi App opens to the home screen where each installed device is listed. To the right of each device there is an on/off round button, when tap it powers on or turns off devices. There is a plus (+) on top to add new devices. That opens to a screen to select the type of devices been added. There are Group, Automation and Settings icons to access various functions. In the SYLVANIA Smart WiFi App, you can create rules and groups to control several devices at once. The manual instructions are very limited. The plug has Bluetooth, so there should be an option to add the plug via Bluetooth in case a devices cannot switch to a 2.4GHz network. I would have liked power usage reporting, even if the plugs cost was a bit higher.
