This 250GB drive is NVMe M.2 2230 so make sure your socket is properly keyed for it. It comes well packaged with a tiny screwdriver and screw. This is a small card. IUts about the size of an SD card. I mounted it on my Xiwai Low Profile PCI-E 3.0 x1 Lane to M.2 NGFF M-Key SSD Nvme AHCI PCI Express Adapter Card and had no problem. My Linux box had no issue detecting it and I used GParted to initialize it with no problem. A 29GB file transfer (mix of photos and large mp4s) completed in just over 5 minutes. And that was from a SATA SSD source to a PCI-E x1 interface. The manufacturer specs list High-Speed sequential read/write speed up to 3,200MB/s and 2,600MB/s, random read/write speed up to 320K and 300K IOPS respectively. Designed for the new Gen3 x 4 PCIe slots, PCIe 3.0 and NVMe 1.3 compliance., so mounted on a new gen interface, performance will be much better. Thermals werent bad on it, its not a finger burner, but a heat sink wouldnt hurt. Not a bad drive at all. It carries a 3 yr warranty.

Bought a used surface pro 7+ and it only had a 128gb hard drive which was not going to be enough. After creating a USB Key Drive I installed this 512GB drive in and after using the USB Key to get Windows 11 on the new drive I have a machine with enough memory to last me a long time. I would recommend this drive as I really dont see any bad things about it plus it has a 10 year warranty so I am not really worried about it.

  • Ooh, shiny gadget.

I wish I could tell you how well this drive works in a Steam Deck but I dont have one. However, I love that the Steam Deck it, along with the Surface Pro, will drive the industry to produce more M.2 2230 size drives and the price for them will come down. I have the 256GB SYONCON AP425 M.2 2230 SSD that I popped into a USB external enclosure to serve as a portable drive. In this configuration, it will serve well as a drive for backing up my various projects but it would also be a great solution for Teslas sentry mode/dashcam features. It has good speed through the enclosure and seems to be fairly reliable. In terms of its price, it is on par with other 2230 drives out there so this drive is basically run-of-the-mill, but I dont see anything wrong with that. It works and it isnt too expensive. Theres nothing to complain about. Ive only found one USB enclosure that is made only for a 2230 drive though. All other enclosures are made to fit the bigger 2280 drives. To make this drive truly portable, I would still need to find a smaller case.

    Not too bad at all.

This SSD works great on a Surface Pro 8. Its a gen3 drive but it performs at the upper level of the gen3 spec. Im getting 3200 MB/s read and 2600 MB/s write speed, thats much faster than the stock drive that came with it. Its a very lower power SSD, only drawing 5mw when idle. This translates to 7.5 hour web browsing at 50% brightness, and lowest backlight setting on the keyboard and 60HZ refresh rate. Gen4 SSD drives have a compatibility problem where you need to modify a registry setting to get them to work., they are more power hungry too and battery life is approximately 1.5hours less than this ssd. This ssd works without resorting to any registry hacks.

I had no issues installing into my Steam Deck, booted up, re-imaged SteamOS and it just worked. Turned my 64GB model into 512GB for about $50, cant got wrong with that.

I put this inside a laptop (hence no photos to add to this review) and its working quite nicely. I cannot quite say anything to its longevity, which would probably be the most important element for a device like this after speed, but if it works for like 4 years I will be pretty happy. Its very fast for me personally. It boots into Linux in 4 seconds. Just make sure that the motherboard you attach it to supports the form factor. The naming for these form factors is pretty terrible, but its not the manufacturers fault, just something to pay attention to.

Bought it to use on steam deck. Reviews where ok. Not sure if i just got a bad unit. It failed in two weeks. I would not use this in a steam deck. I started to notice slowed down performace before it died.

Used this on my Steam Deck. Got the 64gb version and just upgraded the storage. Pretty easy to do and Ive had no issues with this drive so far. Its a little expensive, but worth it.
