I have been shaving with porasso green cup shave soap and i like the menthol smell because it really opens up your sinuses but my face still kind of hurt when i shaved, Never using anything for sensitive skin before i thought id give this a try and see how it worked... and im truly amazed! This shave cream takes hardly no time to lather up and left my skin feeling smooth and pain free. has a nice aroma not strong nice and subtle. I usually stay away from products that say they smell like such and such because i dont like smelling like an array of colognes or perfumes, so this product is nice in that aspect. If your contemplating this or another product i highly recomend this one!

Stick to the normal Taylor of Old Bond Street version of their crèmes (they are fabulous!). I ordered this by mistake not realizing it was the sensitive skin version (i had read previous reviews on sensitive skins with complaints and I must agree.. its not even close to the same experience.) I have sensitive skin and the normal versions dont bother me at all - in fact i love them. The sensitive skin ones become really dry on your skin and I ended up getting worst razor burn since starting to wet shave (about 3 wks now). I couldnt figure out why such a great brand would feel so weird/dry and make the blades grab my skin and make my skin SOOOOOo achy/worn out after a shave (im supposed to be getting better at this, not worse!). Then I read the container.. oops! SENSITIVE SKIN! The scent is OK. I like the traditional scent much better and will now try the coconut or almond (ill have to choose wich one or get both!) - now that i know its the sensitive skin versions that are no good and the regular versions are stupendous! UPDATE: Decided to give this crème a try again and the 2nd time around it wasnt as bad (perhaps its just me improving my technique a bit better). So ive upgraded to 2 stars. But its still not as good as the normal ToB crèmes and this does legitimately have some type of ingredient that left my skin burning a bit post-shave (when rubbing in after shave or lotion). Scent wasnt for me but that is absolutely a subjective statement and others may dig the scent. It is definitely stronger scented than the traditional/original scented ToB and stronger scented than the other crème I purchased and have tried.

As a long time user of this product I hate to say I am beyond disappointed with my last order and replacement order as well. First order came in and part of it seemed to be missing, like it was a return or something. Also smelled funky, a stale old musky funky smell. So I returned and got a replacement. The replacement was smelled even funkier as well. Not only that but also dried out as well. So not sure what is going on but seems someone is selling used/old products or they are moving that fast at Amazon and are old as heck.

If you are using commercial shaving creams, this is a huge improvement. Unlike the commercial stuff, if you use it properly it will not dry on your face while you are shaving. I highly recommend using a brush, (no bowl needed, it just wastes product) it helps create a nice lather, dont expect this type of shaving cream to lather like the can stuff, but it does protect your face better. The proper way to use this product is to have a wet brush, I use a badger hair brush. I run it under hot water for 10-15 sec. while filling the sink, then lightly shake off excess water (this is called wet shaving so some water is needed), then push a small bit (about the size of a quarter) in the brush. I said push in the brush and not on the brush because when you lather it on your face, you need to press the brush down so the bristles spread out on your face. Make sure your face is damp prior to adding the shaving cream, and re-rinse then reapply shaving cream between strokes with your razor. Shaving cream is a lubricant, you dont ever want to shave without a layer of shaving cream. Youtube has videos to show proper shaving techniques. Always clean your brush, then store it hanging bristle side down and it will last a long time. Pros: This cream has a nice lather and good smell, I didnt find it overbearing. More product, cheaper purchase price and smaller container then Art of Shaving shaving creams (biggest competitor at this price point). On the negative side, I live in AZ, and ordered the shaving cream when it was about 82 F, and the product was completely melted. As mentioned in other reviews, some of the cream seeped out during shipping. Once cooled down it did solidify. Prior to using this product I used Art of Shaving shaving cream, and this product is not as thick, so you need to use more product per shave. I was a little disappointed because I was hoping to use this as a cheaper replacement for the Art of Shaving shaving cream, but between the extra amount needed per shave and the amount lost in shipping this costs the same or more then the Art of Shaving in the long run. The Art of Shaving product has a thicker container, so it holds .3 oz less, but it has never melted or leaked any product. I also have very sensitive skin, and being thicker, the Art of Shaving products work better for me. I used this product for a couple months before writing this review so I could give it a fair assessment. All in all, this is not a bad product, it works well, smells good, and is a far cry better then commercial creams out of a spray can. I will probably go back to the Art of Shaving products however because they are thicker and work better on my sensitive skin.

I have been using this for several years and love it. In the past I have had them arrive a little leaking and apparently others have as well. The fix seems to be tape which now leaves a glue film that I will have on my hands and razor. Just have to spend time with some rubbing alcohol to hopefully remove it.

This shaving soap smells great and leaves you feeling smooth. This is a shaving soap that will last you a long time, a very small amount will completely lather your face with a rich saturating lather. Taylor of Old Street does leave you with a lotion feeling on your skin after shaving and rinsing your face off. It does act as a moisturizer, so if you do not use a moisturizer after shaving this will take care of your skin for you. If you have never used a shaving soap these last about a year and are far more worth the money than shaving creams. You will need a brush, ideally Silver Tipped Badger is soft and durable.

currently on my 4th container of this stuff over the past 2 years so it lasts about 6 months for me, and I honestly use too much each time but thats just to get a healthy amount on the brush. I love it. I have a pretty thick beard and this stuff combined with Astra blades never leave a rash and very little irritation around my adams apple.

Taylor of Old Bond Street does have an excellent product line. If you are new to wet shaving, using a cream is a nice way to start. It lathers easily and is typically more slick and forgiving than hard soaps or softer soaps called croaps. Which is best for you in the long run? Thats up to you to decide once you have the experience, skill and knowledge behind you. The Cost - Ill start off by saying that as much as I love TOBS, they are getting unreasonably expensive in my opinion. Ive been buying from them for years. About a year ago, I could buy 5.3 ounces of the Jermyn shaving cream for $12. Now, it seems to be averaging about $20. Thats almost $4 per ounce! Holy cow thats a lot! It seems TOBS is enjoying their success and brand name recognition as all the prices on all their products seems to have climbed steadily this past 6 months or so. The Scent - This is subjective and very personal. I love this scent. Its very unique and original. MY girlfriend likes it and many of the women at client locations have smelled it and commented positively. Will you like it? I have no idea. But its not fair to add/remove stars for scent. No manufacturer in the world will be able to please every nose. The Lather- I find this cream to produce a full lather quickly and to be very slick throughout the shave. The Performance - During the shave I find it provides all the slickness and buffer you could want. I have coarse facial hair and semi-sensitive skin. For me this performs very well. Again, like scent, this is subjective. Your experience will depend upon your skin type and skill level because they will be different than mine. The Post Shave - This is where I feel the product fails somewhat. My skin feels good but not great. It feels a bit dry after. I wish TOBS Jermyn Street would provide a better moisturizing experience post shave. That said, this is not a big deal. In the spring and summer seasons I dont need to moisturize much where I live. The fall and winter require it, so Im going to moisturize regardless. Basically, this problem is easily solved by using your favorite aftershave balm which most of us do every time any way. I suppose if you have oily skin, you would embrace this creams drying effect. How to best use this product? This is where I think a lot of negative reviewers have gone wrong. They just dont know how to use creams properly. Most likely they load too much onto the brush or into the bowl and in the end, they have a thick, heavy Greek yogurt-like glue that they attempt to shave with. Then theres the opposite. They see how it looks like glue in the tub and add way too much water until it gets thinned out into something resembling milk. Heres how you do it right. #1 - Use an extremely small amount. I dip my damp synthetic brush directly into the tub until there is about two shelled sunflower seeds worth on the very tip. I then proceed to face lather. If you use a bowl/scuttle, that will work too. #2 - Creams lather easily. Dont over-work it. #3 - If its a bit dry or too thick, just add 1-2 drops of water. Yes, I said drops. #4 - For your second or third pass shaves you dont need to work the soap up again. Just paint stroke it across your face to cover the skin, then shave. In the end, I have to take off 2 stars. 1 for the price and 1 for post shave drying. If the price was more reasonable, this would be a 4 star shave cream.

I like TOBS. I used to always get the Organic one in the beige tub. But this time around, that one was out of stock and almost doubled in price compared the last time I bought it. I needed to get new shaving cream fast, so I decided to try this one. This one is good. Just not as good as the one I used to always get. Compared to the organic one, this one has less lubricity. I end up adding water while shaving to keep the blade really gliding, where as with the organic one I just kept shaving without skipping a beat. But, this one in the black tub works well over all. I still end up with a really good shave and my face feels really good after. I would still recommend this one. I like the smell, and more importantly, so does my wife. Its got a refreshing scent that works really well first thing in the morning. Its also not too strong, so its quite pleasant. Ive also tried the sandalwood scented shaving cream from TOBS. Compared to the sandalwood one, this one is much better in terms of scent. I would say, not quite as good as the organic one in the beige tub (thats my top choice), but a close second. Either way, its hard to go wrong with TOBS.
