> 3 dayIve owned this sprayer for 9 months. For $40, this is a decent spray gun, works well, spray pattern is good. I also have the Devilbiss Starting Line Spraygun kit. What is the difference? The TCP gun has non-stainless steel parts inside it which means that if you use this gun to spray WATER-BASED paints, it will get rusty inside. The rust, if you dont keep a close eye on it, will cause small rust spots on the surface of the item you are painting and that is a MAJOR problem especially with paint colors such as white. I just experienced this while building and painting a set of shelves. It was very disappointing. The Devilbiss Sprayers have stainless steel parts which means that I can fill the cup reservoir with water-based paint and leave that paint in the gun for several days or weeks without concerns of rust and this is a huge convenience with the Devilbiss for big on-going paint jobs. With the TCP gun, I recommend you do not leave water-based paints or top-coats in the gun overnight - you will need to clean it regularly to avoid rust buildup and contamination of the paint. The TCP sprayer description does not specify using water-based paints which is why I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5. For all OIL-BASED paints, the TCP sprayer is a good performer. If youre going to spray water-based paints (I use my Devilbiss for water-based paints, coatings, topcoats, and any oil-based paint, car paints, etc) spend a little more and get a sprayer designed for that such as Devilbiss.

> 3 dayI sprayed lacquer and vinyl sealer on chairs with this gun. No complaints on it. The adjustable air regulator was suspect, it didn’t seem to stay at a pressure and adjusting it didn’t seem to work very well. Otherwise the gun comes apart easy, the lid on the cup fits ok but can be troublesome. It sprayed ok but this was my first time spraying that type of fluid so maybe I did it wrong! Results were good. Even with the 1.8 tip I still thinned to get a better spray, I also added a water separator that worked well.

> 3 dayI have guns ranging from cheap HF guns used for dyes to astros used for cabinet pre cat lacquer to a Sata rp for automotive paint. Unfortunately I dont have anything with a large enough tip to shoot latex primers. Im redoing all the trim in my house and needed something to shoot primer on the base and crown before installation. Using a 1.9 tip on an astro gun wasnt working without massive thinning. For my application, it gets 5 stars. All i need is a decent volume of paint and a good spray pattern and i need it without thinning the product. For me, it worked perfect. I dont doubt this guns ability to lay latex really smooth, but Im only shooting a couple coats of primer so I never got there. Id say its quality feels on par to my $120 astro guns. Not a sata, but definitely good enough for almost anything and much better than the HF guns. Im not a huge fan of the lid, but thats minor. For 40 bucks it would be worth a shot on your project.

> 3 day1st, look at the price. Tip is too large to do a GREAT job, but if you have a beater that you want to patch up yourself, this is the ticket. Even though the tip is too small for many folks preference for a primer gun, i like it well for this. I found it hard to drop the right amount of base without getting it too thick, but, practice would overcome a lot of that. The clear was just to orange peeled, and i resprayed, but still couldnt match FACTORY peel. However, i have seen cars from factory with as much orange peel, so if you were to do a WHOLE car or project, and budget is a concern, i believe this would work well, but i see it as a throw-away because of parts available, and there are no other size tips for it that i could see. IF more tips ARE available, i would give it one more star. I have a warwick and it more closely matches my cars factory peel, and it has more tip size available making it more versatile, but it cost 9 times as much too.

> 3 dayThe gun was awesome but when I wiped of the regulator glass it melted. Now I can’t see the pressure on the air.

> 3 dayI got this gun to spray latex paint on cabinets and it worked great. I also own a Wagner 9146 airless sprayer which works great for BIG jobs, but when you are working on something smaller like cabinets you have tons of wasted product. This gun is not meant for painting large spaces such as a room or a whole house, but it does a great job on smaller things like doors, cabinets, molding, and furniture. It laid down a nice smooth finish on my cabinets and it was very easy to use and clean. It has a great feel and is easy to adjust. I also own a Graco-Sharpe 289222 Mini-HVLP FX1000 and a Graco-Sharpe 288878 HVLP FX3000 1.4 mm HVLP Gravity Feed Spray Guns both purchased from Amazon. These guns are awesome for spraying fine finishes like poly urethane, lacquer, shellac, and metal finishes, but not latex. I do a lot for wood and metal finishing as my hobbies and I am a happy to add this guy to my finishing arsenal.

> 3 dayThis gun is about the best for the money spray gun for primer. It shoots the heavy fill primer just like the more expensive guns, just dont use the plastic filter they supply with it. always use a paint strainer when filling your spray gun. It leaked a little around where the cup attached to the gun, but I took care of that with a little teflon tape. It surprised me how well it worked and it cleaned up nicely for the next time I need it. I think someone mentioned that they used it as a throw away, this gun works just fine over and over as long as you clean it properly, even an $800.00 spray gun is useless unless you clean it well. If you hold the cup when installing and removing the cap you wont put stress on the connection, I always do this even with my expensive gun. I wasnt expecting a lot because of the price, but with a little preparing and proper maintenance there is nothing wrong with this gun for primer or latex and any of your heavier paint, I wouldnt paint a car with it, unless it was metal flake as mentioned in the ad, but I still would get a better gun for any paint finish.

Greater than one weekGun worked fine but upon cleaning I noticed a crack in the fluid joint. When I tried to remove the fluid joint for cleaning it would not budge. Likely cracked due to over torquing during assembly. Never seen this happen in 30 years. Ordered another.

> 3 dayGot this to use with the 2.5MM tip for the 6600. Sprays great lots of material for thicker paint. Cleans up well, supplied regulator is compact and works without issue.
