> 3 dayUniden used to be a good name in radios. Based on this and the previous scanner I got, there is no quality in the products. Had another scanner sitting next to this and it would not pick up transmissions the other scanner would get loud and clear. What was worse is when I went to return it, they did not offer the UPS pickup service like all my other returns have. Would not recommend purchase of *ANY* Uniden products.

> 3 dayIt’s a good product but had to take and get programmed to scan. Haven’t figured out how to make it auto scan channels other than police. Not like others where u take out of box and it automatically starts scan. Instructions a little unclear on use of unit, refers to a lot of other units that doesn’t apply to this unit. Haven’t had it long enough to decide about battery life. Over all it is a good quality product that has down falls of functionality and ease of use.

09-06-2025Combined this with ProScan programming software (worked the best $50) and a Radio Reference subscription (online frequency database that works with ProScan $15/6 months) to program the device. Software also allows you to create multiple backups and/or configurations. Only negative I see is the battery recharging is a little weird. Charges on a timer that is settable and doesnt turn off when battery is charged. Seems to run off battery when plugged into USB port and does not recharge until turned off. If you remove batteries, it runs off USB power. Im a little new to the device...this part seems to have not been thought through.

Greater than one weekThe Uniden BCD325P2 scanner is a highly functional scanner that can receive all of the modern analog and digital signals you are likely to encounter in your area. But it is complex with a steep learning curve for the average user who is new to scanning. I used to regularly listen to police, fire, and air traffic control communications on my old Bearcat scanner back in the 1980s when signals were mostly just conventional analog. I recently decided that I wanted to do it again. But when I began looking at which scanner to buy, I began to feel slightly overwhelmed by just how complex signals have become in the past 35 years. I had not wanted to spend a lot of money on a scanner, but it quickly became apparent that I would have to buy a scanner capable of receiving the newer digital and trunked signals as well as the old conventional analog. So, I decided to buy the Uniden BCD325P2 after reading reviews, and I believe that I made a good choice even though its price was a lot more than I wanted to spend. My county uses a lot of digital and trunked communications. If I had purchased an analog scanner, the only signals I would have been able to listen to would have been air traffic control communications. A lot of people have mentioned how difficult it is to program this scanner. And it would be if you tried to hand-type all of the frequencies you want to scan directly into the scanner. That is not the advisable way to do it. You actually need to use a computer to load the scanner . Fortunately, I have a technical background, and so I did not have any problem programming scanner. I just subscribed to radioreference.com and used the frescan program to build an initial program configuration to upload to the scanner. Unfortunately, once I began scanning, I quickly realized that the included rubber duck antenna was very inadequate. So, I have had to spend yet more money to buy a better antenna. I am getting a lot more financially into scanning than I had intended to be. Oh well, you cannot take it with you. Now, I will be spending my time trying to learn all about modern communication signals and how to use the functions of the scanner.

> 3 dayGood scanner if you know how to program p25 channels and frequencies, how ever the upgrade to hear DMR, and 2 Other systems will cost you if you can’t download the latest firmware. It can only be downloaded via windows system, will not work with chrome or other systems. But with more and more counties going p25 trunking… this scanner is one that will be useful and helpful. Wish the batteries lasted longer on charge…but all in all… it’s portable and works when the power goes out!! Would buy 2 more!! But would find a source of computer friendly for upgradable systems and firmware upgrades.

Greater than one weekI am pleased with the BCD325P2 scanner. This is my first digital scanner. I have two analog scanners, only one is still working. I found this rather easy to program manually from the keypad, despite what other reviews have indicated. I was able to program an analog system in about 45 min out of the box. I spent a good deal of time studying the manual online a month before I purchased it, so I was familiar with the radio. I wanted a scanner I can program the systems I want to scan, and not worry about national databases, sd cards, and all the clutter I will not use, so i chose this unit. The only issue I have with it is the receiver. It works very well in a quiet RF environment, but gets wiped out near cellular base stations. This happens on both digital and analog. I live less than a block away from a cell tower, and had to hunt for a spot that it will receive the control channel. I have not had any issues with lsm distortion, as i live 2 miles away from the main site. I am happy with the unit, and would recommend it to anyone.

13-06-2025You definately have to have someone who is capable of programming the scanner or else you will spend a lot of money getting the agencies that you want to listen to. The scanner is coompact, and definately a quality product. I would recommend an external speaker for better sound quality and to purchase extra recharagble batteries and a charger. I go through two batteries about every 6 hours. You cannot recharge the batteries in the scanner and listen to it at the same time.

> 3 dayWhere do I start? This thing is an absolute nightmare to program. If you dont use software forget it. Manual is totally useless. Now on to the hardware. Using a USB cable to provide power to run a portable radio is a very poor choice. Taking the cable in and out a thousand times will only result in failure at some point. I dont believe an engineer would choose this over the ultimate in reliability - the traditional round power plug. Next, in order to change the volume you have to press the button down while simultaneously turning the knob. The volume knob uses a détente which clicks. Bad design. Lastly, and most importantly, the device cannot charge batteries unless it is off. This is a FABULOUS design. I dont know anyone that buys a scanner to have it off. You also have to manually program it to tell the device how long you want to charge the batteries as the device doesnt stop charging when the batteries are fully charged. You have to constantly switch batteries or constantly turn the device off for up to 14 hours. I understand the dumb California law. Uniden should have done things like most other companies. Design a great product and then mark it as Not for sale in California. I cant believe an electronics engineer would actually design a worthless device like this one. They had to be driven by high level managers driven by profit, managers who never used a scanner in their life. Uniden blew it. Products like this are what makes companies end up going out of business...................
