It was great quality although a tad complex to learn how to use without looking at the instructions.

I own multiple scanners and have been scanning for well over 30 years - this little Bearcat is incredibly inconvenient to program - turn the volume and/or squelch up or down - but most of all, just to turn on and off. It’s reception is very poor compared with all my other hand held scanners - I used various antennas to see if there was improvement. The best thing it does is search active frequencies, so I use it as a “search scanner” to find active frequencies so as to load them in my other units. For auto racing or for listening to Emergency services close by, it would be fine. But for anything more then 2-3 miles away that’s not being broadcast through a county wide repeater - forget it.

This radio is fine if you live in a small town or for sporting events but dont expect to hear anything more than a few miles away even with an outdoor antenna.

Worked great until the police and fire departments in my area switched to p25 phase 2. I used it at work as a security officer since our dispatcher does not always pay attention to theirs. Shame this model can’t be updated to get the new system.

This has nothing to do with product, only the way it was packaged. Who in there right mind would solely rely on a factory packaged item. There was not tape to speak of on it and thank god the little lock tabs held. I guess if the return in factory condition was a option if needed, it would be a stretch of imagination

Like the scanner very much but have not had time to figure it out how to put the channels in. Right now it seems complicated but will give it another review once I have the channels programmed and see how well it works.
