> 24 hourI already have one of these thermometers and I like the fact that its simple to use and simple to read. The ONLY disadvantage is the batteries - they were difficult to find (or were difficult to find when I went looking for them earlier in mid-2020.) The battery size is as follows: CR1225, Button Cell Battery, Lithium, 3V DC, Diameter 0.472 in, Depth 0.098 in I could not find a replacement at any of the local stores and, at the time (mide-2020 pandemic) couldnt find any online either. (Finally located some at Grainger). The product listing doesnt note this, so be aware! Having said that, the battery that came with the thermometer lasted probably 3 years before finally giving out! Ive found the thermometer to be fairly accurate. When you turn it on, if its initial reading is too high, run under cool water to get the reading down to 98.6 before inserting into the mouth. One press on the button turns the thermometer on, one press turns it off - and it will shut off on its own if left unattended. Just rinse and put it back into its plastic holder for safekeeping.

> 24 hourI am writing a review on this item even though it arrived DOA and it did not work. It is nonreturnable and I called Amazon and customer service told me to trash it and they gave us full credit. For that I give it and Amazon a thumbs up! It was not a battery issue by the way, it just did not work. I am recommending this thermometer though because we have 4 of them and they work flawlessly if you replace the batteries when needed. We like the bright light that comes on when your temp has been taken and some of them make a loud enough beep to hear unlike others. There are 2 kinds; one traditional and one that gives you an almost readout. One is flexible and one is traditionally rigid, so you have a lot of options to choose from. I for one never buy anything that is not returnable since I refuse to allow any business to sell me something that does not work and then will not take it back. That is a licence to steal from the consumer. It worked out well for us, although I had to call someone in central America to get my refund but they took care of it and that was impressive.

> 24 hourIm putting mine into the e-waste today. The problem is that it doesnt wait until the temperature stops changing to take the reading. what needs to happen is it needs to just wait an extra second or two after the temperature stops moving before it announces a final temperature. unfortunately, it doesnt even wait for the temperature to be stable and will just stop no matter if the temperature is still moving. save your money and buy something else.

> 24 hourI’ve only used this twice, but absolutely love it. Very easy to use and read, and even has a color change on it for even easier verification. Very fast too.

> 24 hourI had become so used to using my old thermometer that I had no idea the technology had progressed to this point, and for under $10!!!! This thing not only tells your temperature but it (1) does it in less than 10 seconds, (2) has a very large readout, and (3) has a background that changes color according to increments above 98.6. (I should mention that before this purchase I tried a different one that was a few dollars cheaper, but LUCKILY it was flawed, and I sent it back. What a karmic gift!!) I would be shocked (shocked, I say) if anyone has anything bad to say about this thermometer. Thats my story and Im sticking to it.

> 24 hourThis Vicks SpeedRead thermometer is excellent. In my experience, it has been 100% accurate, reliable, readable and usable in the dark. ACCURACY: Compared to a professionally calibrated digital thermometer I use for work, this unit was consistently within .2 degrees of accuracy. When compared to several other types and brands of thermometers I have around the house, the Vicks SpeedRead was within .5F freedom degrees. USABILITY: Theres only one button. It is accurate for oral vitals on children who are awake and old enough not to squirm for 8 seconds. Kids can immediately tell if they have a fever by the color-coded readout. It is a good addition for a mobile first-aid kit as it comes with a rigid case and is somewhat durable. Youd better have long fingernails or a small flathead screwdriver to unlock it and pry off the back to change the battery (see photo). Dont forget to pick up probe covers, alcohol wipes and a spare CR1632 battery. CAVEAT EMPTOR: This thermometer uses a CR1632 battery NOT an LR44 as in the description! Before you open the packaging glance at the manufacturing date. Coin batteries last between 2-4 years in storage, and if its at the tail end of that span you may want to check pricing on the battery v. the price of the thermometer and decide if its more economical to send the thermometer back or buy a new battery. The thermometer I received had been manufactured less than 6 months prior.
