> 3 dayIve had bad experiences with digital thermometer over the years. Basically they were inaccurate, would malfunction after a few uses or the batteries would die right before I needed to use it. Im grateful that I still had an old school glass mercury thermometer during those times. Its accurate, no batteries needed but yes its a potential hazard to oneself and the environment if it breaks. However, think of all of the pollution from button batteries with production to disposal, and accidental ingestion by children! Anyway Im really glad I ordered this one. Its accurate compared to the glass thermometer reading, very quick and easy to read. I wont be using the plastic covers on it but will instead save them for my old thermometer in case I need to use it. I also planned ahead and ordered some cheap thermometer batteries on Amazon to have on hand in case this one dies right when I need it. Update: I did more comparison testing with my mercury thermometer, and to get the most accurate reading with the Vicks thermometer make sure that its far back underneath your tongue; otherwise you will NOT get an accurate reading.

> 3 dayI already have one of these thermometers and I like the fact that its simple to use and simple to read. The ONLY disadvantage is the batteries - they were difficult to find (or were difficult to find when I went looking for them earlier in mid-2020.) The battery size is as follows: CR1225, Button Cell Battery, Lithium, 3V DC, Diameter 0.472 in, Depth 0.098 in I could not find a replacement at any of the local stores and, at the time (mide-2020 pandemic) couldnt find any online either. (Finally located some at Grainger). The product listing doesnt note this, so be aware! Having said that, the battery that came with the thermometer lasted probably 3 years before finally giving out! Ive found the thermometer to be fairly accurate. When you turn it on, if its initial reading is too high, run under cool water to get the reading down to 98.6 before inserting into the mouth. One press on the button turns the thermometer on, one press turns it off - and it will shut off on its own if left unattended. Just rinse and put it back into its plastic holder for safekeeping.

> 3 dayI had an issue with my Walgreens thermometer: was showing me often that Im borderline hypothermic 35F, and then was here and there. So I got on on Amazon that one had 13K reviews: Thermometer for Adults, Oral Thermometer for Fever, Medical Thermometer with Fever Alert, Memory Recall, C/F Switchable, Rectum Armpit Reading Thermom, that one was all over the place also, including hypothermia. I didnt feel like Im 35/37, but had such readings when I had walking pneumonia a few years back, so that was a concern. Got another Walgreens as a control one. This one too was showing me hypothermia and then various other readings. All three were giving also different readings at the same time. I did a little research and learnt that all thermomethers follow the same standard, so there shouldnt be differences, its a simple device after all. Obviously not! and when you really need! to know you might not. The same article rated the highest for oral ones this Vic thermometer. I got it, its spot on when compared with medical-grade thermometers and consistent, I dont have daily hypothermia lol. Its also very quick, plus a great design. It doesnt bend, you cant Bluetooth it to your phone or music app, whatever, it works for and all for just $10.

> 3 dayI have always loved this thermometer. It is on the flatter side, so easy to store. It is also extremely easy to read. I wish I would have come across this when I had young kiddos. I am able to grab the thermometer from my nightstand in the middle of the night, without turning lights on, and still see if I have a fever, or not simply based on the color. Green means that your fever is normal, yellow means you have a slight fever, and red means you have a fever. You can go wrong. The battery life lasts quite a long time as well. I have one in each of our nightstands throughout the house. I will never buy another thermometer!
