I am using both Parallels and VMware products on my two Macs. I find VMware way less cumbersome. And Parallels comes out with a new update about every six months, which wouldnt be so bad but they want the user to pay for the upgrade. I went through the entire version 3 of VMware updates without paying a dime. Ill take VMware, thank you.

This is a great product that does exactly what it says. However, I find myself needing it less and less. Every day less software is Windows only and in fact many products are Mac only these days. The reason I point this out is that I do not feel that I use this software enough to give it a full review that it deserves.

Ive had great experience using Fusion at work, tied to Windows Server, running Windows XP Pro, for business related purposes. It has given me very little problems, and most of the problems are either windows related or a program on windows, like Quickbooks. Ive used parallels in the past, and it worked ok, but it took over my Mac system, installing different network settings that were almost impossible to change. I noticed after trying to configure either Parallels or Fusion to connect to a server as part of our network, Fusion connects easier, at least with my personal experience. I dont have any info in terms of using Fusion for games/3D performance. But if you are a business user who needs to be productive, connect your Mac to your Windows Server/Network, and have a rather easy setup, Id recommend Fusion.

    1. For full disclosure, I use my mac (macbook pro and mac mini) with their native applications 99.95% of the time. Once in a very very blue moon, I have to utilize a windows application and thus thought this product might be helpful. Main point, Im not an expert in this arena. With that being said, setting up / installation was fairly benign and without getting into the nitty gritty, the product does what its supposed to do--> one is able to open up / work on / deal with windows based applications without a hitch. I wasnt doing any cpu intensive applications and thus perhaps there might be a performance decrement, but this worked well with macbook pro. Definitely a worthwhile product to have for those occasional or regular situations when one needs to utilize a windows application the mac. Well done.

I love this software, I got it to put on my 2011 MBP, and it runs flawlessly on it. I needed a Windows system to run for my job, and this provided me with that.

This pertains to Fusion 4.1 on a recent MacBookPro. The program does what it is supposed to do but I cant help thinking BootCamp would work just as well and I may uninstall Fusion to see for myself. It takes at least 30 seconds for Fusion to start running Windows7 and I have to double click twice to get anything to run. Even after increasing installed RAM to 8 and allocating more to Windows some things are slow, especially video. It is easy to screw up the display if you click the wrong icon on the bar. Tech support from Fusion is not bad but not great either, depends on who you get, assuming you call during support hours, 6a-6p west coast time. There is NO written documentation nor is there a PDF on Fusions website. When I suggested they write up something I got silence. You can wander through Fusions online database if you have some time to kill but some of the answers I found there were wrong. Like I said, try BootCamp first.

Rather use Parelles which I feel works better for me.
