I bought this to upgrade my wifes old 5400rpm hd in her laptop. I used an adapter to clone her old hd to this one and when it was done I switched them out and it works perfectly so far. SOOOOOOOOOOOO much faster than before. Its almost like having a brand new laptop. I sacrificed some space because hers was 650gb but she was only using 200gb of that space so this was more than adequate.

My Hitachi operating hard drive on my 12 year old Gateway crashed .. replaced it with his WD Blue SSD (restored from Acronis). So Far I am happy with the operation of the new drive ... will have to see if it will last as long as the original drive did..

Fast little M.2 Drive. I say its fast, its an SSD, its not limited by the sata cable. it will run as fast as your PCIe lanes will allow. So there are no restrictions. This M.2 drive was purchased to replace a smaller 2.5 SSD, and also to clean up some wiring inside my computer case. eliminated another power and sata cable. Is it faster than my 2.5 SSD, i dont know, It feels like boot times have decreased by a second maybe 2. Overall its a perfect budget M.2 SSD for a main drive, backup storage or just want it just because. This is my main drive in my PC, paired with a 240GB PNY 2.5 SSD and a 1TB WD Blue HDD. Love WD, their products have yet to fail me.

The drive installed easily. However, Western Digitals cloning software corrupted my Windows software and I had to reinstall Windows. Of course, because I never thought I needed it, I didnt make a reinstall disc when I purchased my Dell desktop. After using Western Digitals software, I spent about 5 hours trying to diagnose the corrupted drive through Dells utilities, only to give up an have to to a factory data restore of my whole computer. I would have lost all my data, had I not backed it up before installing Western Digitals SSD. Do not buy this product. Spend money on another SSD from another manufacturer

Update: With regard to the WD Blue SSD.. Zero Noise compared to any platter hard drive. But that would be applicable to any SSD. Speed is as promised. I think once you go SSD, there is no turning back.. If anyone has the intention of imaging their current PC to a new PC with this drive, I would recommend the problem free EaseUS backup and system transfer. I unfortunately have tried the top 5 recommendation and all failed or had several learning curves which became to time consuming. For $29 the home version is all you need..

This drive wuld not recognized by wd10 operating system. I had to download a ssd/drive software from WD to format it then it would be recognized and works like a chamop. I wish seller would mention this problem. I thought something wrong with the 1st one after after installing it in different PC and Laptop; so I reurned and exchanged for a new one. This problem should be mentioned on the ads to save the buyer time and Amazon shipping fee!

Replaced the system drive for a PC and the drive for a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012). The PC was a custom but but older gaming rig. Had two WD Raptor 10K in RAID 0. The MS system benchmark rated the drive performance as a 6.0. With the SSD the measure went up to 7.4. While an arbitrary number the improvement was significant. Especially in boot times. General gaming performance is also faster. The MacBook also benefited with the upgrade in boot time. Installation and formatting to Apple system was no problem. Since I had the necessary EFI upgrade installation of the OS was also very straightforward. However, the disk usage hasnt been as dramatic an improvement. Mostly because my use is less disk intensive on the MacBook comported to the PC. Battery and such are well improved. One note, there is a feature called TRIM that will not be enabled in macOS. This feature improves read/write efficiency. Google the term, TRIM support mac OS SSD and look for the howtogeek page. Explanations and procedure there. All in all a very good upgrade. And a little subversive act of defiance since the disk says PC SSD and it slides nicely into the mac.

** UP DATE FROM PREVIOUS POST, THIS IS STILL GOOD PRODUCT FOR THE PRICES $279.00, AFTER I REMOVE FRPM MY PC AND THEN USED AN EXTERNAL HD TO REFORMAT IT FROM OTHER PC THEN RECONECT IT BACK WITH HP FACTORY DEFAULT WINDOW THEN IT WORKED & RUN LIKES PRO. 4 STARS BECAUSE I HAD TO REMOVED IT OUT MY PC, AND TOOK ME COUPLE HOURS TO REDO THE WINDOW.**

Excellent product! I bought two so I could upgrade both drives in my custom Toshiba Satellite P500. Works like a charm, and am very happy with the boosted performance. Space was another big upgrade - I went from two drives totaling 530 Gb storage space to nearly 2 Tb with this pair. I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade to SSD. I plan to buy a couple more so I can make the same upgrades in my desktop PCs. Ive always had very good luck with Western Digital products over the years, and these have been no exception! A++!
