WD Blue Solid State Drive

> 3 dayI installed it last night without a problem. I used EaseUS Todo Backup Frees System Clone function to copy my 160GB HDD to the WD 250GB SSD. This left an unused partition that I expanded using Windows Disk Manager, but I did not expand it until I was sure my PC was going to boot from the SSD properly. After copying, I shut down my PC and removed the old hard drive just to make sure it would boot from the new drive. The PC booted up much faster and quieter.

> 3 dayBought this SSD because Ive always used WD Black HDDs in my PC. I wanted to get a Western Digital Black SSD but could not find one in the sata 6 variant only m.2 so I grabed this WD Blue SSD instead. I wanted the Samsung 850 evo but this one was on sale for 85 dollars. This is my first SSD and took me about 5 mins to install and worked like a charm. I instantly went to test its speed. My WD Black HDDs read and write around 130-150 mbs. This SSD reads for me between 410-425 mbs and writes between 375 and 400 mbs. Im sure there are faster and better SSDs out there but for 85 dollars I am very happy with it. Much much faster than my WD Black HDDs. Only wish I had got the 1TB version instead of the 250GB one as now I want everything on the SSD instead of the HDD due to it being so much quicker. If you just want a good SSD that works great and is plenty fast for the price I think this one is great. 85 dollars for 250GB SSD is hard to top.

> 3 dayI have multiple ssds in my PC I have my windows install on an Intel pcie nvme SSD then I have another SSD made by micron plus I have a Western Digital black which I use for storage. I decided I needed more space and I wanted it to be an SSD and I found this one for a good price it was easy to install and when I ran speed test on it it came very close to its specified performance level. You almost never get what they advertise but this drive comes Incredibly Close. For an example of its speed I loaded The Witcher 3 from this drive and it took seven seconds to boot up the game and get into the game from the menu. Then I tested it on the Western Digital black and it took much longer around 30 to 45 seconds to load up the level. Thats a significant difference especially because it has to load any time you die so with this drive its almost like theres no wait at all I definitely buy another one

> 3 dayFor $89 it is an amazing upgrade to my 4 year old laptop. Between the ssd and eliminating bloatware boot time is about 10 seconds. My HP Pavilion G7s hdd crapped out and I needed a quick replacement so I ordered a new Dell Inspiron to replace it. I was searching for a cheap hdd replacement just to see if I could fix the old laptop and came across this ssd for $89. Expecting the install of the ssd and windows to be a big deal I set it aside until I had a full day to commit to the install. I had the drive mounted in less than 5 minutes and following instruction found on the internet I was able to reinstall Windows 10 very easily. Probably less than 30 minutes actually doing and maybe an hour or so downloading or installing. I cant say exactly how much time downloading or installing actually took because I got busy with other things while downloading and installing. I must comment that Microsoft did a great job making a clean reinstall really easy and free. Only down side is I prefer the old laptop now because with the ssd it is faster than the Inspiron... so the Inspiron was a waste of money since I only use it for backup on its 1.5 TB hdd at this point. I like the led display on the Inspiron better than the Pavilion so maybe when they get cheap enough Ill get a 1 TB ssd and try cloning the hdd in the Dell.

> 3 dayBought this as a boot drive for my OS because my computer was experiencing micro-stuttering and very slow start-up times (symptoms of a failing hard-drive). I purchased a separate SSHD for the rest of my files and programs. My computer starts up in seconds now, and the applications that I saved onto it besides the OS (such as Skype) open instantly. Files transfer ridiculously fast compared to my old hard drive as well. Needless to say this SSD fixed the issues I was having. I will update this review if the drive fails, but so far its performing really well!

> 3 dayUpdate: With regard to the WD Blue SSD.. Zero Noise compared to any platter hard drive. But that would be applicable to any SSD. Speed is as promised. I think once you go SSD, there is no turning back.. If anyone has the intention of imaging their current PC to a new PC with this drive, I would recommend the problem free EaseUS backup and system transfer. I unfortunately have tried the top 5 recommendation and all failed or had several learning curves which became to time consuming. For $29 the home version is all you need..

> 3 dayIt is an excellent upgrade from a traditional hard drive. I now have my operating system and important software on this SSD, and my games and other non-essentials on a 1TB HHD. My system now boots up in 15-20 seconds (previously 1.5-2 minutes on my HHD), from BIOS (Quick Boot disabled) to login (Windows 10). It would boot much faster if I still werent using my Q9650 processor (nine years old and still kicking!). Depending on your computer, you might need a 2.5 adapter to make this fit, if you dont already have a spot for it.

> 3 dayDid a fresh install of win10 on my old trusty laptop that was taking upwards of 20 mins from power on to usable on this drive. It now starts up super fast, is usable in less than 2 minutes, and has restored life to my laptop so I can continue to use it. Highly recommend.

> 3 dayThis is a product of WDs acquisition of SanDisk. Overall, this is a great mainstream SSD. While there are slightly faster ones to be had for quite a bit more money in everyday use for most people you wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Still a massive improvement over a rotating mechanical hard drive - this made my ThinkPad T430 go from a total dog (yay 5400RPM laptop hard drives) to nearly as fast as my Core i7 gaming/workstation laptop. So far this SSD has handled everything Ive thrown at it just fine - everything from simple stuff like browsing the internet to heavy virtualization workloads! Would recommend.

> 3 dayInstalled in a I3 driven Acer 4830T with 6gig ram. It cost $20 dollars to get the Win7 recovery disks from Acer. I started to worry that the drive wasnt working right because the reinstallation took about 2 hours. After the install/updates were done all I can say is wow! Dont forget to go to the WD website and download the dashboard software. You dont need this for the drive to work but it does verify it is working. Power up takes 20 seconds and a complete restart is only 1 minute. Now if I could just remember why I need a computer at home with my tablet and phone being so fast.
