My CPU only supports gen. 3 PCIe so a gen. 4 was not needed. After a month or so of use, this unit continues to function very well. It is fast to load the OS and applications. No complaints.

To start up my PC

Installed this in an older Alienware Aurora 5. Was able to download Acronis True Image for WD for free and used it to copy my old SSD with no trouble. I highly recommend!

Tried to install as a replacement for WD Blue SN530 which had failed. BIOS could recognize the drive correctly but Windows installer could not and asked for a driver to be installed. There is not a driver to be found on the Western Digital site. All the searches assume you have a working Windows installation which I do not.

It would of been easier if there was a screw supplied with the drive thats incredibly expensive to begin with. A pack of 15 screws for this drive and motherboard compatible is for $4, included with a screw driver also to mount the drives. I dont see how its too much of a hassle to supply one with the drive?? Now I need to wait another week to get what I originally wanted. My recommendation..check if you have an extra screw ready to go on your motherboard and space, etc.. and buy elsewhere. This is garbage.

its good for the price. i needed extra storage with decent read and writes, this fits the bill and its affordable for a 1TB NVME drive.

I can see why this stuff is rated so highly - the hype is real! Anyways... Performs exactly how I expected & at the price cant beat it!
