Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache, 14 ml (0.47oz) tube, Permanent White

as one who does repros of historic illuminations, finding true gouache has been difficult lately. Ive searched many many art supply stores and sites, and keep finding only acrylic gouache. Acrylics for some applications is fine, but not for mine. W&N brand is excellent (aka not cheap) but its the real deal. his is a heavy-pigment white, meant for painting over colors without bleed through. Even some standard gouaches do not have the needed opacity. Since Im not a paid professional, this is a great find.

Love this brand of gouache. So opaque, and creamy.

I love the color but it is more difficult to work with than my finetec gold palette. I use this for practicing or on projects that are not commissions. I put it in a palette and let it dry overnight. I have to work more to get the pigment onto the brush, but its a beautiful color once you get it there. I suppose you could use it straight from the tube but I feel that wastes more product than necessary. I would recommend this if you want to try a gold and do not want to invest in a more expensive option.

I love this color! It is a hard color to mix. So, I bought a tube instead. Gorgeous and smooth right out of the tube.

Smaller than I expected but great quality.

I used it to create wave/foam highlights in a watercolor practice piece and was happy with the result! It stayed opaque and watered down nicely as well.
