Yonico Router Bits Slotting Cutter 1/16-Inch 1/4-Inch Shank 12101q

The cutting edge of the bit broke off mid cut. It was normal 3/4 plywood, no nails or metal to hit. The bit just failed and ruined my workpiece.

In my opinion, Yonico makes quality router bits. This one is tricky because 1/16 is such a narrow cut. Its really just a horizontal saw blade. I bought this to install vinyl T-moulding edging in a custom melamine sewing table top. First thing to know is you dont need to make the full depth cut in one pass. Three passes or more works best in my experience. Doing it in one pass builds up WAY too much heat and youll ruin the bit in no time. The cutting teeth are so narrow at 1/16 that the metal disk is almost as thick. I actually wire-brushed the pretty yellow paint off to reduce friction-produced heat. This seems to help, but multiple passes still recommended for a full depth cut. [Edit] In the process of learning the above, I pretty much had ready heat-damaged the bit, making the carrier disk brittle (photo). Working on my second project, one of the teeth snapped off. Cant blame that on mfr. as I clearly mistreated the bit. Ive ordered another and will be more careful this time.

Made good and did the job. Very pleased

No issues with it. Cuts a very accurate groove with ease. Bit is very well machined and put together. I probably wont use it enough to wear it out but I am impressed enough that Im going to try some of their other bits that I use more often. Recommended.

Used for 3 cuts totaling about 4ft in plywood before it flung one of the cutting tips off, overheated, then warped severely.

Barely got through the one job I had to do.. got hot and the bit wandered. Think I got what I paid for.
