> 3 dayThese seem well-built and sturdy, although the mechanism is a little stiff (maybe after I use it for a while, it will become smoother). I used it to make a few drill guides in a wood beam, and it worked just fine. One small negative is that if you dont know how to adjust the tension, these came with no instructions whatsoever. Fortunately its not hard to find this info online (or figure it out): the farther you unscrew the base (the end farthest away from the point) the less tension there is on the mechanism and the less force needed.

> 3 dayIts easy to use for pushing down but if you have a project which requires a push upwards or sideways, this tool isnt strong enough.

> 3 dayCant say enough good things about this set of spring loaded punches. They work perfectly and like they are supposed to. The knurling provides a nice grip. Both sides can be unscrewed for cleaning and lubrication. You really cannot go wrong with this set. They are an excellent value. I have a Starrett at work that cost ten times as much as these two. They make the same indent on steel as the Starrett does. They even feel the same when used. I would highly recommend these center punches. Extremely useful tool to have on hand.

> 3 dayI really like these centering punches. Ive been working on a project that involves drilling dozens of holes in mild steel. My old punch (another automatic) never left a satisfying dimple to start a drill bit. It would leave a mark to line things us, but it wasnt deep enough to ensure that the bit wouldnt wonder. Well not these punches! The point on these punches is sharp and suepr hard. The spring has a terrific punch to it and is strong enough to get a good start in any metal or wood surface. My drill bits of various sizes were always right on center following the dimple from these punches. Highly recommended.

> 3 dayReplaced a 30 year old punch and these are great! So far the points seem to hold up well and the spring action is great.

08-04-2025Given the cost I didnt expect a high caliber tool, but I figured since there would be *two* of them I would at least wind up with 1 usable tool. I was wrong. The first punch never fires and is functionally just an awl. The second punch fired *1* time and immediately became stuck so now its functionally a paper weight. I could likely find a way to fix it but Id rather not spend time fixing a tool before its first real use. Will return and purchase something else.
