Greater than one weekTo be honest I was skeptical. I thought for the price I couldnt go wrong. With the ability to return it if I didnt like it I decided to pull the trigger and bought 5 1.5x.12 bars. They were packaged just like described. The bars were exact, flat, and straight. I did a spark test and it was no doubt high carbon steel. Its made in China, but so is everything else. I turned those bullets into knife blanks. It took some work to surface grind the blanks to true them up, but not bad. Im looking forward to beveling and finishing these knives. I will be buying more of this steel.

09-06-2025Im sure this is fine steel but, as others have said, its NOT annealed. If you send your blades out to be heat treated, and dont have the means to get this hot enough to anneal it, you will have problems. EDIT: The seller contacted me and offered a full refund, was very nice. I had already sent the steel back, but they were quick to reach out after my review, so I wanted to let everyone know. If you can anneal this, it was straight, clean steel.

> 3 dayused a zip wheel to cut this steel because the bandsaw wouldnt touch it. now i have completed blanks that a drill bit wont touch !! what a waste of time and money.

> 3 dayThey look good but too hard to use files on and drill into but not so hard that I was able to fix the bend in it without heating.

> 3 daySo yeah, steel arrived in good packaging, nicely oiled so zero corrosion. It was also perfectly flat, unlike the last 1095 i bought from a different supplier. I traced out a pattern went to rough cut the excess steel and watched as annihilated the diamond edge on an expensive Diablo Metal cut-off wheel i love using. I grabbed a good Nicholson metal file and it skated right off the steel. I just started making knives and while my little diy forge is great for heating a knife to non-magnetic for hardening, i just dont have the ability to heat it for the duration and temp level in order to do a proper anneal. I guess its time to step up and make an annealing box or maybe even build an oven of sorts.

> 3 dayI recently purchased the 4 Pack 12x1.5x0.12 1095 Steel Flat Stock and have been very satisfied with my purchase. The steel is of high quality and has held up well during the machining process. It is also easy to work with and holds a good edge. One of the things I appreciate most about this steel flat stock is the consistency in the dimensions. Each piece was exactly the same size, which made it easy to use for my project. I also appreciate the durability of the 1095 steel. It is a strong and reliable material that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. Overall, I would highly recommend the 4 Pack 12x1.5x0.12 1095 Steel Flat Stock to anyone in need of a high-quality steel for their project. Its a great value for the price and has exceeded my expectations.

> 3 dayCouldnt cut this steel with anything, after reading reviews that other ppl said that the steel is not annealed like advertised. i now assume that the steel i was sent is also not annealed. frustrating because i do not have a forge (yet) to anneal myself.

> 3 dayIt was ok. It was pretty flimsy. Im no Ahnuld, but I was able to bend it by hand and its pretty thick steel. Worked for what I needed it for but glad I didnt buy it for automotive frame work or structural work.
