A Treasury of Curious George: 6 Stories in 1!

Greater than one weekThe heading is the adult speaking. The child loves these stories--which are all the same story repeated in different situations. It seems to be a story that the child needs to hear--doing something wrong with good intentions, and then everthing working out well in the end. This may touch them more deeply than more recent childrens books that adults like. Kids at a certain age need curious George stories--it helps them understand their lives in a good way.

> 3 day(Kindle for iPad Version) Content: 4-5 stars Packaging & Presentation: 2-3 stars These books are wonderful short stories that continue the Rey tradition of Curious George. I would suggest this collection to anyone with an interest in Curious George. I purchased this collection to have for a plane trip to avoid juggling multiple bound volumes. Unfortunately, my sole complaint with this collection is the actual Kindle interface of this book. Each page in the physical book is present as an image placed in-line with a copy of the text from each page. In effect, there are two copies of the text for no discernible reason whatsoever. Additionally, it is impossible to scroll from image (page) to image (page), so in order to have a reading experience similar to the physical book, one must expand the page image, read, close the page image, scroll, repeat the process. Additionally, the table of contents is not annotated, so each chapter (book) has no name listed.

Greater than one weekOur daughter LOVES Curious George- we already had the Complete Adventures of Curious George when we decided to buy the Treasury. We were aware that the Treasury was not by the original authors, but rather inspired by their work, and were a bit hesitant to purchase it, particularly based on a few less than flattering comments on the [..] website- some found it formulaic, drawings uninspired, etc. We were pleased with our purchase. Our daughter loves this book, currently more than Adventures, likely because she hasnt completely memorized it! The illustrations are good (if perhaps subtly different than H.A. Reys), the plot lines entertaining (maybe stories about a mischievous monkey cant help but be to be a bit formulaic). These books were written in the 1990s and 2000s, so its not surprising that no one smokes in them and minorities are more visible (without, in our opinion, the books striving to be overwhelmingly politically correct). But reading Curious George Visits the Big City, obviously set in New York, saddened us. Theres a scene where George is looking out over the city, and what look to be the World Trade Center is visible in the distance. This particular book was written in the 90s, based on a view that todays children will never see. If your children liked the original George book, they will enjoy this one too. Highly recommended.

Greater than one weekWe love it when our granddaughter bring us this book and asks us to pick out a story. She often picks the story she wants to hear and always laughs at the silly things Curious George does.
