I use this computer monitor primarily to play World of Warcraft. I would not say Im a professional gamer, but if youre familiar with the game, Im a 2k pvper, do relatively high mythic+, and regularly get 90th percentile parses in heroic raids. I say this because I have noticed a difference in my gaming since getting the monitor. Im much more aware of my positioning in pvp because of the 144hz, same for mythic+. I tried the BenQZowie monitor without Gsync first, and it did not even compare to this Acer monitor. Im running a GTX1070 with Ryzen 2700x. The gysnc was completely necessary, and makes a huge difference. The smoothness and reaction time of my Razer chroma mouse was noticeably better upon first use. Just disable Vertical Sync in games and have GSync running. I did not have to do any color correction out of the box for this monitor. I was satisfied with it as is. I dont think this monitor is just good for the money. It is just a plain good monitor.

I would not recommend this monitor unless you are pressed to buy it and wont have a 144hz monitor for any other price. So, I bought this 144hz monitor for my new computer that I built. This monitor has poor picture quality, bad colors, connection issues, and bad brightness. Its not good. However, it is 144hz. So thats nice. Another bad thing is that, in three months from purchase, it got a vertical red line down the screen. Vertical red lines are connection issues that are nearly impossible to cause on your own and impossible to fix without removing the panel. I did not hit the monitor or do any moving when it appeared. I simply was browsing the internet. They said this damage was under warranty. I sent the monitor in for the vertical red line and it was fixed within a week and a half. However, it cost me 23 dollars and my time! I also noted that the monitor had other issues (including connection issues), which they did not fix. The only thing that was fixed was the red vertical line. I want my 23 dollars back! Again, I would not recommend this monitor. It sucks and Acer kind of sucks. At least they paid for the shipping label!

I bought two monitors as I like playing games and keeping track of other things at the same time, such as YouTube videos, or Discord chat. Pros: Its 144Hz which makes things look very smooth. The stand is very adjustable, as advertised. The setup was pretty painless. Cons: The color temperature was a bit more yellow than I would like, no matter how much I tweaked the color settings, it always looked yellow. I also noticed a dead pixel after about 5 days of use. Viewing angles not particularly great. A minor nitpick but the power indicator LEDs on the bottom right of the screen feel just a tad too bright and they often catch my eye when playing games or doing work. For the price I dont think its bad, however I do intend to return the two I bought as theyre not quite what I need.

It’s hard to recommend this monitor. I received my first one with a dead pixel on arrival which I noticed not even 10 minutes into use. But I wasn’t willing to let one bad monitor ruin the experience for me. So I requested a replacement, and when I received a new one it had a white spot at the top of the monitor. However that wasn’t enough for me to call it quits. I continued to use the monitor for another week until I was running some benchmarks which required me to turn off G-Sync. Which didn’t cause any problems until I turn G-Sync back on which caused a dead pixel to appear. I don’t think it’s a problem with G-Sync, it’s a problem with how the monitor wants to be able to run G-Sync and AMD Freesync. The store page claims to be G-Sync compatible but when you receive the item, the packaging only says that it is Freesync compatible. I am convinced now that I have gone through two of these monitors, that these monitors are not truly compatible with G-Sync which is causing these monitors to to damage themselves. Despite all of those problems, the overall quality of the monitor is great. When you receive the monitor is has a blue light filter enabled by default but with a little bit of tweaking with the settings you can get rid of that easily. The refresh rate is smooth at 144 hz with very little tracing or motion blur. Sadly it is not oveclockable to 165 hz, and any attempt to do so will cause the screen to go black until the refresh rate gets changed back to 144 hz. Despite the problems that G-Sync may cause, if you can turn it on without damaging you monitor it is well worth it. G-Sync offers a much smoother experience with virtually no screen tearing to be seen and you can expect the same with AMD Freesync if you are on team Red. Final conclusions, the monitor is great for the price and offers a lot more features than I was expecting. However the dead pixels make it hard for me to recommend seeing as I have now had to return two of these monitors.

  • Good enough.

Im making this review because this page seems to be review hijacked by Acer and another corporation for a number of different monitors and there doesnt seem to be many reviews specifically about the Acer Nitro XFA243Y Sbiipr . Pros: -Stand is very ergonomic, albeit a bit wobbly at the base even though I tightened the screw -Low black-smear and motion blur thats commonly associated with VA monitors -Good contrast (non-professionally calibrated) -Solid color reproduction (non-professionally calibrated) -Good ports Cons: -Stand has terrible and almost pointless cable management. Theres always going to be at least a couple wires sticking out on either side of the monitor like antenna, and the clip at the back of the base serves basically no purpose for most desk setups. -Display settings in the menu dont save after the monitor wakes up from sleep unless you specifically set it as a profile -VA batman bloom effect seems particularly bad, even for a VA display. Viewing conditions in the dark make any content seem more grayish than its supposed to. It should be noted for any potential buyer of this particular monitor that the coverage on the internet is basically non-existent for it so youre basically SOL when it comes to other reviews, trouble-shooting, or calibration. I usually use sites like RTings for calibration help, but this time I had to painstakingly do it buy eye. Ironically, the IPS version of this monitor (XF243Y Pbmiiprx) is MUCH more popular in terms of reviews and such so If you dont care much about VA Id honestly recommend that one instead, if you can get a good deal on it of course.

**** Update, 3 years now, im replacing it with an MSI monitor, i still think this is a fairly solid monitor over all. But i still cant get the colors right. i have spent most of the time with this monitor having the light colors washed out because i need to see in dark areas in my games. The three hundred price point for this is way too high. if you get it on sale and it ticks all your boxes go for it, but there are way better monitors for less money. **** original review*** On paper this monitor has everything you could want, 144hz, dp and hdmi input, basic speakers if you dont have any other ones, audio pass through, vsync.... all the bells and whistles... but i can NOT get the colors to look right on this... the worst part is the darks are way too dark, i try to compensate with nvidia control panel settings, but if i adjust the settings to make dark colors look good the light colors get washed out. if i adjust the light colors to look right, all the dark colors are just black and you cant see anything in dark videogames, shows, or movies..... i would not buy it again. other than the color settings issues, its has everything you could want... if i ever figure out the color settings ill update my review, but ive already had this monitor for almost 2 years now i think? and i mess with it frequently and cant get it right so dont hold your breath.

Monitor performs great, 144Hz was a great upgrade, but every 3 or 4 days Ill get a dead pixel in the mid-lower-right section and I have to lightly press on the screen to make it disappear. Its not detrimental to the performance, but when it happens in a game it takes me out of the immersion. Maybe mine is simply defective, but I would consider shopping around. The value was great, so I only knocked it down 1 star.

For $209.99, this is one of the cheapest 144 Hz gaming monitors you will find on Amazon. I like Acer as a brand and they have come up big with another quality product. This monitor is extremely easy to assemble, with the base using just one screw and the stand using a snap-in functionality to the screen. I like the design and the bezel is a decent size. The buttons look nice and give you easy access to some useful functions like adjusting brightness, volume, mode, etc. Be wary that the colors it comes with out of the box are sub-optimal. If you are looking to game or do any graphic intensive activities, consider looking up some color profiles online or creating your own. Not to be alarmed, this is the same with all other cheaper 144 Hz monitors (out of the box, that is). The DP cable that comes with the monitor is somewhat short (3ft, I believe) so if you need your monitor somewhat far from a plug, consider purchasing a longer DP cable (PrimeNow has a 10ft cable for $11.99). Also, this monitor has no cable management (not a big deal), so if youre worried about cords hanging loose, maybe invest in some cable clips. Overall a great product for the value, quality, and functionality.

My son build a PC and had me buy this monitor. He plays games and does school work etc. would recommend.

In competitive gaming, every frame matters. Introducing Acer"s XFA253Q gaming monitor - the Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution monitor that can keep up with your game play. Through AMD FreeSync Premium technology, the game’s frame rate is determined by your graphics card, not the fixed refresh rate of the monitor, giving you a serious competitive edge. Plus, users can enjoy comfortable viewing experience while gaming via flicker-less, low dimming and ComfyView display. The design saves space on your desk and lets you place multiple monitors side by side to build a seamless big-screen display. (UM.KX3AA.Z03).
