I bought this G-Sync monitor and was extremely excited to get it up and running. The minute I got home from work and plugged it into my video card, things started to go south. First off, my second monitor which was plugged into my VC via HDMI was no longer recognized. I went to reboot to see if that would fix the problem and suddenly my computer had a crash dump, which it hasnt had in 3 years. Once the crash dump was finished processing I decided to reinstall my video card drivers to see if that would fix the issue. Once again, I rebooted, and once again, I got a crash dump. Something about this monitor was conflicting with my video card. I decided to give up on trying to fix that and instead moved on to see how the monitor impacted my gameplay. I booted up Diablo 3 and was prepared to be blown away--but no change. I started to google how to set up my G-sync monitor. Pages upon pages of instructions until I finally found a simple process. I opened my NVidia control panel and went to the place where enabling G-Sync was supposed to be and it wasnt there. I even verified through the NVidia site that my video card supported G-Sync so I was at a loss. Another googled webpage told me to turn on Vertical Sync via my NVidia control panel and that that would enable G-Sync---once again to no avail. I finally called a computer expert friend of mine for some help. He remoted in and tried to do all the same steps I did and wasnt able to find any option to enable G-Sync. He was though, able to go into my monitor setting and turn it up to 144hz, which DID look amazing. But no G-sync for gameplay. So thats all the technical headache. Aesthetically, this monitor has much to be desired and is really showing its age. The monitor is thick, with a thick frame. Doesnt match the look and feel of modern, sleeker monitors. Looked like an ugly stepchild when sitting next to my Dell monitor. Pros: 144hz looks nice Very reasonable price for a monitor Cons: Very difficult to get working properly Not compatible with some NVidia video cards Ugly aesthetics

After 1-1.5 years, monitor quality of 2 out of 3 monitors makes them unusable. Awful vertical striping throughout the screens, no help from their support, not resolved through resolution changes or new cables -- there is some major hardware quality problem with these... My review was rejected for an unknown reason, so I did not re-attach the photo of the problem. Just be aware that these monitors have a serious issue that may only appear after Amazons return window has closed.

For starters, the monitor itself along with the bezel is much thicker than I thought. The monitor has built in speakers but they are essentially useless as the quality is so poor and they give off an annoying hiss. Im not sure if its the monitors fault but I should note that the gsync seems incredibly inconsistent giving performance boosts in some games and performance hits in others. Lastly, my biggest issue was the half hour of tinkering I had to do with the display settings in order to make the display not look blurry, dried and gray. To the monitors credit once I got the colors and sharpness where I wanted them, gaming was actually very enjoyable and the bezel disappeared into the background better than I thought. The pivots and swivels are very smooth and satisfying to adjust and can help maintain proper posture for those who struggle with posture while sitting. There is also hardly any if any back pannel light bleed. Which was an issue on my previous viotek monitor, so this monitor definitely wont be emitting any seemingly unnecessary light bleed. Some settings that made the image and display quality improve: swapping out of the preset color temp immediately brings more color and less gray. Super sharpening severely decreases the blurriness and brings a much more crisp image. The user color profile is aslo very balanced and neutral. And lastly slightly decreasing the black levels make darks and blues much more crisp and natural, taking a lot of gray out.

Great monitor graphics are great, but am having to return it because it fails to mention that there is no audio jack or any built in speakers at all. Very disappointing considering it’s a nitro you would expect it to have speakers at the very least. So if you don’t care about having speakers go on ahead and get it it’s great for everything else.

For the price, This is a great gaming monitor. Ultimately I am very pleased with this monitor, despite a few shortcomings. (At the end of this review, I have shared settings that are widely shared across the web for better picture quality.) Ill start off with the few things I DONT like first. The Menu Buttons, I hate them. 6 rectangular buttons in a row on the bottom right of the monitor. I would prefer a joystick style. The Color, Horrible out of the box. Very bright, Very washed out. But very Fixable. The rest is all positive. My argument against the things I dont like will simply be For the Price, You cant Beat it. I paid $189.99 for this XFA240 monitor. For under $200 dollars, you wont be able to find a better monitor. Especially one with 144hz and 1ms response time. Performance wise, this monitor is a beast. This is my first 144hz gaming monitor, and you can literally feel the difference. I play mainly FPS games and in my 100% honest opinion, I believe monitor has enhanced my game-play. Those small precise movements, Split second twitch shots, Quick peaks from cover, ect. All start to feel...Right. I would definitely recommend this monitor if you can get past the wonky Menu Buttons, And washed out picture out of the box. Again, with some tweaking to the settings this monitor will perform fine. Again, Remember this is a sub $200 GAMING monitor. Its not going to compete with the big name monitors that easily cost $200-$400 more than this one. So it does have its short comings. But, For the Price...You cant beat it! Recommended Settings. This is a good base line, you may prefer to add a few more tweaks. Edit: after a little over 2 years of use, the display port plug stopped working. I tried different cables and combinations with my graphics card to confirm it is the display port on the monitor. The hdmi port still works, but limits it to 120 refresh rate. Kinda stinks, but still a good purchase. The picture is great, but the real gravy here is the response time. My last monitor was also 1ms, but was 60 fps. The difference between that one and this one is insane. Make sure you use a display port cable and set windows to be 144 fps. Loving how instant everything is. Moving pictures are very clear, its super easy to read moving text. Also the stand it comes with is amazing. I was planning on getting monitor arms, because I like my monitors a bit higher up then most stand accommodate. (If your sitting up straight and looking straight ahead, you eyes should be just below the top of the monitor). But the stand can have the monitor high enough that I dont need one. Also it rotates and can even tilt the monitor to be in portrait mode, which is pretty cool. 100% recommend. Great performance monitor for the price. I will be getting 2 more for my side monitors because I hate the delay that I now feel when using any other monitor.

I can forgive its colors as maybe too different to line up to what Im used to as somehow the oddball out of at least six monitors, two tablets, and four phones Ive used in the last eight years, but what really gets negative points are how it interacts with the operating system. In my experience, when other external monitors are off, the system still recognizes them as connected, and the monitor comes to life as soon as the computer is back on. This thing takes its sweet time turning on when the computer turns on or when its own power is turned back on. When off, it might as well be disconnected. That is, if turned off while the computer is on, Windows will shift all apps to my other monitor as though the cable has been removed. No other external monitor Ive used has this behavior. While these are mild nuisances in the grand scheme of things, why suffer when there are no notable positives and countless other monitor options out there?

Id love to show the colors, but the monitor died today at less than 4 months. From what I remember: the colors are washed out and ugly; correcting them takes a bit of effort (and that doesnt guarantee youll ever get the colors right). Brightness is average, I guess. My Asus that was half the price of this looks so much better as far as colors go and brightness. The speakers are... complete garbage. If you like blasting sound out of Apple Earbuds (the ones that come for free with iPhones/iTouches), then these are for you cause thats what it sounds like. You absolutely need headphones or separate speakers for these. As a 144 Hz, it does its job and can go up to 144 Hz. Not much else to say there. My biggest issue is it is a load of crap and mine died within 4 months, and the only thing it did was sit on my desk. If it goes to sleep, it will be unable to receive signal from your PC and is pretty much dead. I managed to get it working again by powering it off, replugging the DP cable, etc., but it just decided to completely die today and wont get signal regardless what I do. Im looking to get it repaired so I can sell it off and buy a quality monitor. I guess I only have myself to blame for trying to cheap out on something as important as a monitor and buying this hunk of crap. As you can see in my picture, there is dust resting on the stand from how little I interacted with it physically. It did not break because I jostled it too much or anything of that sort; left alone it decided to just die. Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more to buy one from a more reputable and quality brand.

Recieved one with dead pixels out of the box. However I am getting an exchange. From the short time I used it with the defective pixel, The performance was good. You may need to go adjust your monitor to 144hz as it may be factory set at 60hz. BEWARE nvidia purist! The monitor is not G-sync its AMD freesync. If you are in need for 144hz while on a budget this will do you just fine with no frills. The audio is comparable to a 1999 honda civic with 200,000 miles on it. But Im sure most of you keep your headsets on when you go into incognito mode anyways. Overall its a good budget monitor if you are seeking 144hz with 1080p quality. Otherwise take more shifts at work and get something that doesnt make you feel suspicious and read reviews because you want to be a cheap ass.

Summary: This monitor was excellent for the first few months. After that, I got a dead pixel right in the center of the monitor. It shows as a red dot on a white background and is extremely distracting when reading text (emails, articles/blogs, etc). It likely would not affect gaming as much. Warranty Replacement: As other reviews stated, I contacted Acer and they wanted me to pay to ship back the monitor (UPS quotes ranged from $30-$50 for ground shipping depending on estimated size/weight of the package) and then they would repair it in 7-10 business days, then ship it back. I thought this was completely unacceptable because I run a business on this PC and cannot be without my monitor for an estimated 3-4 weeks. Thats basically telling me I cannot work for nearly a month while they try to fix a dead pixel. If youre ok with this warranty replacement process, by all means, get this monitor. But I believe this is an absolute ridiculous process between paying upwards of $50 to simply send a monitor back to the company where it should have been working in the first place, then also having to wait nearly a month to get it back. This will be the last product I buy from Acer. I never want to deal with this type of warranty process again.
